I have read that IF BB brings in a player for a visit, ect; we have never drafted them. Is this true? Seems like we have had some good players in this year. I know he likes to keep a sercet but I would think you wanted to see a player you may draft.
thanks

Hmm, let me see ... I think there was this guy named Mayo recently. :D

I think Chad Jackson was in for a tryout twice if I am not mistaken ...Am I?

Last draft, we compiled a list of 68 prospects who either worked out, visited, interviewed, etc. with the Pats.

Of the 68, Jarod Mayo, Terrence Wheatley, and Shawn Crable were the only ones drafted. All three were listed as pre-draft visits. IIRC, Wheatley was also listed as a private workout, and Crable was also listed as an All-Star game interview.

Keep in mind however that the list was compiled from various reports that crossed our path. This draft, we're fortunate to have many posters contributing info to the list, leading to frequent updates.

To characterize it as only three of sixty-eight (not sure if intended) is misleading. Our first three picks were all listed as pre-draft visits. Of the sixty-eight, how many were gone before our fourth pick of the draft?

I'm with you 100%. The team is allowed 30 visits, and last year the Pats' top 3 picks were all among those visitors. That should debunk the OP's myth pretty decisively.

Oh, not intended. We ended up drafting 3 of 68 was my original intent, proving the myth is unfounded.

I don't think these visits are all necessarily about the upcoming draft. Last year, the Pats hosted McFadden for a visit. I highly doubt they had any intention of taking him with a high pick, but they may have be doing their due diligence in case he's available via trade or FA three to five years down the line.

That's a good point that I hadn't really considered. And that's why I have all of the confidence in the world with our coach and scouting personal.
