Some interesting quotes from a Miami Herald column by Armando Salguero where he seems to contradict himself.

"The choice will be largely up to Taylor. And the choice largely will determine who Taylor is and what he is about. If he is still driven by a desire to put himself in the best spot to win a title, he must go to New England."

Then he follows that up with this.

"The Dolphins, believe it or not, also offer Taylor his best opportunity for ending his stellar career with a rally rather than a disappointing collapse."

And closes out with this gem.

"If Taylor decides he would like to finish with the Dolphins, he would have to commit to their offseason program -- the one he so famously missed last year, the one that so famously helped Miami win the AFC East division in a stunning surprise.

Parcells doesn't give scholarships, and although he would like Taylor on the Dolphins, his affinity would dissolve if Taylor weren't healthy and productive. The only way a 35-year-old Taylor could bet on being healthy and productive during the season is to get to work during the offseason.

The Patriots might accept less than that kind of offseason diligence. But the Patriots wouldn't necessarily make Taylor the best player he can be."

I just find it interesting that the author contradicts himself during the article, especially where he speculates the Dolphins are the best opportunity for Taylor ending his career with a ring (rally). This is the same guy who suggested the Patriots may have moved "slightly" ahead of the Dolphins based on their off season moves thus far.

Even in Miami the commentors on this article were suggesting if Armando had so few leads or items of interest to expound on he might have just taken a couple of days off...

The observation that he could miss the early off season activities here is probably true. Felger was just saying on WEEI this is an established system and Jason played in a variation of it for Saban. Tuna is trying to build a new culture that has to avoid any appearance of entitlement. Bill's is already established and can withstand a little entitlement if the tradeoff is landing a veteran FA who plugs a gap (like with Seau).

If family is first and foremost then I guess he limits himself to Florida teams. Of those the Dolphins probably have the best shot at making the playoffs (ergo ending on a somewhat positive note vs. Tampa or the JAGS but Jason has been there and done that in Miami...). But he'd also have to subjugate himself to Tuna who doesn't want it to become the Jason Taylor show in Miami again. Just don't see that happening. Here the Jason Taylor story would be just a welcome distraction/diversion to keep the mediots occupied. There are lots of established leaders here. Here he'd be something of an emeritus leader and with a real shot at a ring which like in Junior's case is the only thing his career is missing...

Is Salguero a journalist or a fan? This is shoddy homer journalism which seems to be more a plea from the Dolphins to Taylor to come back to the Dolphins through the media than a real column.

I do like how Salguero thinks he knows better than Belichick on how to prepare Taylor for the season. I don't think Taylor missing the offseason program was the big problem, it was his participation on Dancing with the Stars. Taylor lost too much weight dancing last offseason. The guy has been in the league for 12 years. He knows how to prepare for a season. If the Pats feel he is working out sufficiently on his own, they won't have a problem signing him in May or June for the minicamps.

Even if Taylor would go back to the Dolphins, I doubt he will look to sign with them until May. Most veterans of his age who know they will definitely get a job later in the spring tend to sit out as long as they can to avoid the offseason programs.

Maybe, but I doubt it. I saw him on NEST not too long ago and it was the same Bogus. I'm sure since his debacle at the Globe he's tried to tone it down a bit, but I sincerely doubt he's really changed. To each his own I guess, personally I just don't think Bogus is on the same level as Reiss.

I never meant to say that I do not respect Reiss & Gasper and the job those two do in bringing us Patriot new ASAP, include Christopher Price & SHeila Manza Young there as well. They are all awesome, Reiss is the 100% hands down absolute best.

I was only pointing out that Borges, Curran, Karen Guragaian are decent writers, yes, I now include Borges as he really knows his football (especially when he gets over his BB slight from years gone by), when compared to some real A/holes in this town such as Ryan (when he writes about football) Tony Mazz & Dan Shaugnessey (ALL THE FREAKING TIME).
