Don't care what order these are the guys I want at 23 & 34:

One thing that BB wants that we can't judge, do they love the game, that was the thing that strikes me about Mayo he has that love of the game and desire that Rodney & Tedy has.

I am impressed that Barwin went from TE to DE to help the team in many cases this would hurt your chances to get drafted.

Smith is a guy I want to see at Safety, great size 6' 3" 214lbs 4.47 and good hands.

ILB and OT later in the second rd.

I am with you on this one about Connor Barwin.

I even posted that YouTube video on my blog. They really should get him. The question is if they need to use the 23rd pick on him or not?

If they think they can get him at 34, they may trade up to get OL or ILB?

What you think?

He available at 34? Smith available at 34?

The reason I disagree is the depth at OLB is so much stronger than at ILB, if we can get Maualuga I would take him and take my chances on a good OLB at #34 or, if you use #34 for Smith, with 2b.

Maualuga and Barwin at 23 and 34 would make for an interestingly young LB group for sure. I think Smith has a chance to be there at 2b if you really want him, it's a deep draft.

I would love that combo and I'd be ok with drafting any of the top safeties at 47. However we all know Maualuga is not going to to last to 23. We would have to move up to get him and everyone knows it.

"Everyone knew" Matt Cassel was going to go for at least a first-round draft pick, too.

You can never be sure what's going to happen when individual psychologies/psychopathologies get involved (see: Quinn, Brady).

I wouldn't say I expect Maualuga to be there but, for example, Mike Lombardi has him totally out of the first round. We could always trade a #3 or #4 to move up a bit as we'd still have the three #2s and a #3 if we traded our own #3 but in this deep draft I am not sure it's that definite he'll be gone.

I like both of them. Barwin has been my binky for almost 6 months now. Nothing to be added. I'm happy with him at either 23 or 34.

I like Sean Smith and was one of the first to champion him on this board. He has tremendous agility for his size. I've backed away from him a little bit recently because I see us needing S more than CB and I'm not sure Smith has the physical safety mentality, but he would definitely be in the mix at 47 along with Delmas, Moore and Chung. I would be happy with any of those guys at 47.

My current preference is Barwin at 23, Beatty at 34 (or in reverse order) and one of the 4 safeties at 47, with Delmas being my favorite and Smith a close second. Maualuga would be worth considering, as would Robert Ayers, who I think could move inside to SILB. If we get any combination of those guys, I would be ecstatic. If that happened, I would consider Eric Wood OG/C, Jarron Gilbert DE, or James Casey TE at #58 if they were still available, otherwise I would trade #58 into 2010.

Barwin=Younger Vrabel

Barwin looks like a youngr Vrabel............

Question is how sure will this convert to Pro vs. USC LBs

Sean Smith looks very good I do not see him lasting past our 1st 2nd round pick

Kirwin thinks that Smith has the 'Safety Mentality', I think with the number of multiple WR sets, I want a safety with good cover skills (like Merriweather).

As to Maualuga, he is reported to have a 15 Wonderlic score if this is true I don't him being a guy who can pick up schemes week to week the way you have to with the Pats.

Trust me, I'm not on the Maualuga bandwagon, but I would give him some consideration at 23 or 34 depending on how the draft was playing out to that point.

Do you have a reference to Kirwan re Smith having the "safety mentality"? I hadn't heard anything about that. I know that he was interviewed and said he would be happy to play either CB or FS, but he has a reputation for being not particularly physical, which is why I'm leaned more towards Delmas recently. I love Smith's versatility, athleticism and coverage ability though, so it's a close call.

He had Smith going to us at 23 in one of his mock drafts. I called his show and gave him MO that OLB, SS & ILB were our 3 biggest needs, he said he would look at Smith for his size and felt he would be a very good Safety.

he also likes Barwin for the Pats, BTW why not look at Redd for an ILB? He has the size. He and Ryan would have no problem with the PAts taking Barwin at 23. He seems to be moving up the draft charts.

How is this kid in tackling? Anybody know? Can he play SS? Can he pop?

What about Patrick Chung, Mayo? I like this kid and would have him above Delmas and Moore as to me he's a proper SS? Saying that I think either if them (or Moore) are nice additions and should be challenging Sanders in 2010/11

Wow who would have thunk it. These are the same two names that everyone on the message boards just gushes over. The only reasons why I beleive are cause we dont have a tall corner back and you guys want to replace Vrabel. That is all I have to say. Think outside the box here and forget about the binkies. =) We need a strong safety not a free saftery. Think William Moore.

I love Chung. I really like a 4 safety prospects. My current preference is Delmas, Smith, Moore and Chung in that order, but it's really a close thing, and you could easily flip the order around. I'd be happy with any of them.

I think Delmas is basically Chung with a little more athleticism and coverage ability and slightly less size. They both have great intangibles.

Agree - think its imperative myself that whatever we do we get one of these 2 in the second
