Now I know we seem to have a full stable of TE's, but really, Wendy or Watson (pref Wendy, imo) could be dumped or traded away. We have a ******ed amount of extra picks.

Think a deal could get done with Pioli, maybe for one of his TE choices here?

Asking not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the subject, the person said Gonzalez was surprised that Hunt had said the Chiefs were definitely not going to trade their 10-time Pro Bowler.

“If the right deal can be made, Tony very much wants the Chiefs to trade him,” the person said. “Tony is not demanding a trade. Tony cherishes the time he’s spent with the Chiefs and he loves the way he’s always been treated by the fans there. But he knows of some other teams that would be interested in him and if the right deal can be made, he wants it to be made.”

Who would you rather have playing for the Pats in 2010--Tony G or Big Vince?

Do you honestly believe he wants out for more money? Maybe, but I can't see anyone throwing monster cash at him.

Re: Tony G still wants to be traded.

We have 2 rookie contracts [watson is like 1.5 millio and tomas close to a million] and chris baker here

you want to cut a 1.5 million contract so you can sign a older player for more ?. more over Tony cannot play watson role as the inline blocker and in pulling gaurd run take on defensive end . he has never done it so you want to get him to put in passing downs and use another TE for blocking aka graham when every one could guess when a running down is coming and when a passing one.

If Gonzalez was this teams TE it wouldn't matter if the defense knew we were gonna pass because they couldn't stop it anyhow.

Teaming Gonzalez up with Moss, Welker and Galloway and having Brady tossing balls to the open target would be sick!

You really believe that if a team brings all out blitz every down knowing their is NO run to defend you will be fine. AKA gaints superbowl plan.

Cutting Kazur saves 1.8 mil. Cutting Hobbs saves 2.2 mil. Niether player is a must have.

NE could create enough space for Tony G not that I believe he would cost that much to sign in NE. The NE offense would be flat out unstoppable with TG as a TE.

Re: Tony G still wants to be traded.

Gonzalez is the highest paid TE in the NFL at $7 million/year. I doubt it's a money issue for him.

Re: Tony G still wants to be traded.

I have no doubt Gonzalez would be an upgrade in the passing game over any of our TE's, but honestly, how many balls are there to go around? Moss and Welker are going to combine for close to 200 catches if Brady is healthy all year, and Galloway is no slouch as a number 3. Factor in Faulk on screens and an added emphasis on the running game (given Brady's injury and the addition of Fred Taylor), and how many catches do you expect to go the TE's way?

Re: Tony G still wants to be traded.

Having Tony Gonzalez on this offense would be a thing of beauty.....to Pats fans

A nightmare to opposing defenses.....

I'll accept him gladly....

I hope you are joking

kazur the 3rd round pick who has started from game 6 on the draft year and is considered one of the best pick and in 3 year later review of the draft went 6th overall according to SI.

Hobbs is the starting corner who also started from the 1st draft year a thing if you might remember even merriweather could not do.

maybe you are suggest tony can play tackle and cb in a game both offence and defence.

But putting tony in means the defence do not have to worry about him blocking and let a free blitzer in every down to see how long brady can play before being IRed

It's not about the # of catches; it's about the # of TD's scored. Brady's 50 TD record would be in serious jeopardy if a weapon like TG was added to the TE spot.

during the brady`s amazing season watson was in their blocking and was our best blocking TE. so when you replace a blocker you are not going to get alot of long balls and it has to be a short passing west coast type offence as now you are having 1 extra pass rusher coming and you tackles are in an island.

Lets be serious.

Just because TG is a liability as a blocking TE it doesn't mean that the QB's that lineup behind center on the teams he plays for get IR'd all the time.

Keep Watson in with Gonzo if it concerns you enough. All you need is Moss, Welker and Gonzo as passing options and the offense would be unstoppable.

I respectfully disagree. Moss is going to get his catches, Welker is going to get his catches, and the Pats are going to make use of screens using Faulk. With an added running game, we have the chance to be a SUPREME ball controlling offense, on top of having great scoring potential. I don't believe upgrading the TE (from a strictly pass catching standpoint, NOT in the blocking sense), will make that much of a difference.

And if it's not, spending extra money to upgrade half of the position would be unwise.

If you're going to keep Watson in to block, you might as well use Watson to block and just use Galloway as your third receiving threat. People get carried away with TE's, just because they're goo pass catchers FOR A TE, doesn't mean you can't get similar production from a good third WR.

And i'm not giving up on Watson as a pass catcher just yet.

I gave up on Watson as a quality pass-catcher a long ago..... and he goes down faster than a porn-queen....

How has KC's QB durability been lately?
