I found an interview he did and he was asked what teams he had talked to and his answer was that at the senior bowl he talked with every nfl team EXCEPT the Patriots.

Does that mean the Patriots know all they need to know on this guy and are not interested enough to want to sit down with OR

They know all they need to know and like the guy alot?

Sorry if this has been reported already, but I thought it was interesting.

How do you guys percieve it?

Couldn't say, I wasn't that high on Jackson to start with.

I hope it's the latter (not interested)

Tyson is a little on the lazy side. I don't consider him a day 1 pick.

You can always learn more about a player, so I see this as the Patriots not being interested in him. I don't think it is a good move, because you should know as much as you can about each and ever potential player in case that player were to drop into your laps. Then again, they have their draft board and they probably have about 5 guys that will be there at 23 to chose from.

Add on top of that, I'm sure the front office changes didn't help too much.

I would agree. I'm not a Jackson fan, as I've publicly stated several times. He seems inconsistent, which is a big sin for a potential 1st round pick.

Well, BB told me not to worry, and that I didn't have to add Jackson's name to the "Who are the five players you would hate to hear their name called" thread -- so I didn't. :D

Outside of Jackson, who in this draft fits the Pats profile for defensive end, 6'5" and 300 lbs. or so.

Here are the top 10 lists at DT and DE from Russ Lande of the Sporting News:

Some names which come to mind:

- Jarron Gilbert, DE/DT, San Jose St. 6'5" 288#.
- Fili Moala, DE/DT, USC, 6'4" 305#
- Evander "Ziggy" Hood, DE/DT, Missouri, 6'3" 300#

Also perhaps Rick Jean-Francois from LSU on the 2nd day.

I think that 2010 is much stronger for 3-4 DE prospects, with Gerald McCoy, Marvin Austin, Ndamukong Suh, Vince Oghobasse and Arthur Davis all likely to be coming out.

Kind of remarkable that there's not a single legitimate (outside of Jackson)3-4 DE 1st round prospect.

With many people feeling that Connor Barwin is overrated right now, you can make a similar argument that Jarron Gilbert is significantly overrated. Some consider him better than Jackson and a legitimate 1st round pick, others rate him still as a 3rd rounder. Jumping out of a pool has certainly gained him a lot of visibility that he would never otherwise have got. I personally like him if he lasted to #58, but not earlier.

And I'd not be surprised to see him at #23.

I'm pretty sure this means he is a lock at #23

I would prefer DE Jarron Gilbert 6"5 288 lbs in the mid - late 2nd.

If Jacksopn falls to #23, I could see BB gobbling him up in a skinny minute. Jackson is a virtual clone of Ty Warren, but with more college experience on the outside.

Yes. Stanley McGlover from Auburn. His "highlight" video was awful.

Which bears asking, if (as a GM) you really like a prospect, why not assemble a horrible highlight package for him and youtube it. Now I know most GM's don't draft off youtube, but if you could create significant negative buzz around a player, it might cause a team to think it could get that player later in the draft.

Evander Hood could be a fantastic 3-4 DE in my opinion.
