If we look at the past few years we can see the other 3 teams in the East are desperately trying to send NE back to the middle or lower part of the division which so far with the exception of Miami's cinderella 2008 season all of them have truly yet to do so.

Which of these teams has done the most desperate wild move in terms of signing a big name player to try and help knock the Pats from securing the division the past few years into this season?

Got a feeling this wont be that close...

Favre is my choice as well but with the Bills signing a guy that most experts thought was not going to play in 2009 because of all his trouble he has caused is a legitimate claim to taking the biggest desperation move away from Brett and the Jets

At least Favre was not considered an azzhole and hated by almost all his fellow teammates and coaches over the years like T.O. has been.

Trading a first plus cutting a competent starting QB for a one-year rental (that probably never was projected to be more than 2 years)?

That far outshines giving a truckload of cash to a WR.

The Dolphins resigned Williams for short money. The Bills gave TO a one year deal for good, but not great money. The Jets traded away a third round pick and paid Brett Favre as a top 5 QB last year. Is there any doubt who's move was the most desperate?

The Jets also adding Favre was the topping of a very expensive offseason for the Jets. They spent all this money on adding Faneca, Pace, Woody, and Jenkins and finally realized they didn't have a QB that they felt could run the offense (granted, they didn't realize the guy they cut to make room for Favre would have been the better choice).

Owens didn't show up for Bills reporting day. He's already pushing the envelope. This guy will destroy Buffalo with his self centered antics.

I think we're kidding ourselves if we believe this.

In one year, it's pretty unlikely he'll hurt the Bills more than he'll help them. And he's going to be VERY motivated this year.

Has to be the Jets and Favre.

TO isn't an act of desperation. Bills were going nowhere anyway. If TO implodes, they have lost nothing.

And Ricky could have been cut easily without cost if he screwed up. I would put Ricky in the same caegory as Moss. Great if he works out, no real cost if he doesn't.

And getting either player did not affect the team's progress.

Favre, on the other hand, prevented the Jets from deciding if their young QBs were any good or not. The Jets lost a year.

I like the Jets being this desperate.
They follow the Pats around like a clueless investigator.
When the Pats turn around quick, the Jets look around and
whistle innocently.
So the Pats leave little crumbs of (dis)information.:D
I look forward to seeing the Jets be had once again on draft day.

I love the fact that the Jets grabbed Vernon Gholston and the Patriots claimed wanted him, but its nice to know he is a bust :D lets see it happen again!! I can feel a complete starting OLB(great pass rusher) in the first!!

The re-signing of Ricky Williams was not desperate at all.

I thought re-signing Ricky Williams was a good move. Actually, I think that the TO signing was a good move too, since it's only one year. So the Favre trade (which I thought was profoundly idiotic at the time, and only looks worse in hindsight) has to be it.

I would have went with the Dolphins signing Culpepper. THAT'S desperate!!!

Jets getting Favre.

I think everyone other than most Jets fans could see it would end in disaster.

I voted for "other." The Favre deal doesn't tell the whole story. The Jets tossed lots of cash in the air last season, in order to get Favre and Woody, and Jenkins, and Faneca. That was desperation. And they didn't even make it to the playoffs. Desperation.
