Kinda interesting the way they do it. Just remember this is the Huddle Report mock, not mine. Don't blame me for their picks. This usually a paid site but this one is free.

I hope that all their selections are wrong.

I find this particular format confusing and not very useful. Their percentages seem strange as well. For example, they have only a 35% chance that Detroit takes Matt Stafford, Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe. Their 3 top choices for the Pats at #23 are something like 11, 10 and 9%, which is basically saying that it's a total crapshoot who the Pats actually take. Why not just come out and make a prediction based on some reasoning? Everyone knows the draft is essentially a crapshoot anyway.

Looks like a GIGO problem. They're so wrapped up in their methodology that they don't pay enough attention to their initial inputs, which are the team value boards. As soon as I saw Crabtree at #2 and no OL in the top 3, it seemed clear that their value weightings are seriously messed up.

Here are my 2 problem with it... Barwin being there at 58.....and being passed on!

And
34 WR Derrick Williams Penn St 14%
CB DJ Moore Vanderbilt 12%
WR Brian Robiskie Ohio St 11%
SELECTION: WR Derrick Williams -- This pick may be traded to the Jaguars for Julius Peppers.

Since when di the Jags get Julius peppers?

Good catch. I wasn't even paying attention.
Funny how I disliked all the "top" picks they had for the pats, but generally liked the 2nd and 3rd choices for each.
When will April 25 happen? Why must we wait? :(

So they have the Pats taking 3 Defensive tackles, and 2 WR, and a Safety in the first 3 rounds???

I'm pretty sure that is not going to happen..

The part that makes it really funny is their comment on the first Pats pick:

"SELECTION: DE Tyson Jackson -- Yes, they could use a LB and they'll get one later."

And then they proceed to take no LBs at all.

And it's not just the Pats picks that are messed up, it's the whole thing. It's a terrible mock. Bill Parcells, Mr. Big Bodies, uses his #1 on Alphonso Smith? Plus the comment on the Jets pick suggests the whole "advanced methodology" is a complete sham:

"SELECTION: RB Chris Wells --I know it's against the grain, but it's my mock draft and I can pick who I think will go here to the Jets."

The Jets thing might shed light on this mock, the guy is a Jets fan, and was hoping that the Pats would waste their entire draft....

That said, and I agree, I wouldn't be surprised if we do take Jackson with Seymour likely gone in 2010. There's plenty of LB and Safeties we could still get with our 2nd round picks.

True; in fact, Jackson is one of the better picks in the whole mock. He's a very realistic choice there if he's still available...which I highly doubt. The entire mock suffers from a blindness to the rise of 3-4 defenses. Jarron Gilbert, Ron Brace & Connor Barwin all last to round 3? Come on.

I'd put the odds of Detroit drafting Stafford, Smith, Munroe or Curry at about 90-95%. They have it at less than 44%???

For all the reasons mentioned above and more, this is an embarrassing effort.

This first round love affair with WRs is nuts. I'm sorry, but the BB school of Football Genius has taught me that high picks need to have a direct impact on each play....ex. .. DTs, OLs,, etc...not someone that has the ball thrown to them 6 times per game. The fact that WRs go bust at a high rate should also warn teams off. When a GM can get a Welker or a Moss for a 2nd and a 4th, others should pay attention.

What I think is funny is that, some how, Julius Peppers ends up on the JAGUARS before coming to the Patriots for the 34th pick.

I think its fairly certain that the guy is wrong on all of his picks for the Pats.

The Pats picks were:
#23 - Tyson Jackson - DE
#34 - Derrick Williams - WR
#47 - Duke Robinson - OG
#58 - William Moore - S
#89 - Ricky Jean-Francios - DT

I don't see the Pats dipping into the same college for guys to play the same position in the 3-4. Both Jackson and Francois would be 3-4 DEs as neither have the weight to be the NT. I don't see the Pats taking Robinson when Unger and Woods are still on the board. I don't see the Pats reaching for Derrick Williams at the start of the 2nd round either.

based on his goofiness, I'd do:

1 - tyson jackson
2a - sean smith
2b - connor barwin
2c - eric wood
3 - chip vaugh

Maybe that's why they made it free.:D I wonder how many people signed up for their site after reading this mock. Would zero be a good guess?

If Connor Barwin is taken at 66, i'll saw my you-know-what off.

I wouldn't go that far buddy! What if he pulls up lame at a workout?. That's a hell of a price to pay.

Good Point.

If there are no injuries, criminal incidents or scenes of a sexual nature in the next month, there is no way Connor Barwin will fall out of the 2nd round.

Better? ;) :p

I think the play of mayo has made a lot of people trigger happy on pulling another LB just like mayo. But picking a LB at 23 is different from picking a LB in the top 10. The idea of picking a DE with the first pick and wait to pick a LB in the later rounds is very reasonable. Even if the patriots dont land a good LB in the later rounds, they still have AD and Mayo, their LB core will still be solid.

With peppers and taylor available, DEs will fall and the patriots are in a good spot to pickup a DE that will probally be taken early in the first if peppers and taylor were not available.

Ususally in mock drafts the early picks you should go by name, but later in the rounds I usually look for positions rather than names.

at 47 the pats might not pick robinson but picking an OLine man is a good pick, same with picking a safety/cb at 58.
