Well, if you were wondering if the league missed Tom Brady last year, and you missed the report after "THE" injury that his absence from the league had an $1.2 Billion (negative) affect on Fantasy Football last year. Look no further than this report from the meetings this weekend:

ProFootballTalk.com - MORE RULE CHANGES TO PROTECT PLAYERS?

"A potential rule change would make it illegal for defensive players on their knees to lunge at quarterbacks.

The specific play Mortensen referenced was Bernard Pollard’s hit on Tom Brady last season. Under the new rule, a similar play would draw a penalty and possibly a fine from the league."

Yeah, of course this comes one season too late.

Re: Some possible rule changes.

It's funny. In conversations I have with people both online and in the outside world, the majority of them (as well as the majority of overall fans from other teams) cheered when Brady went down. Then, when the season ended, those same people complained that the NFL was too mediocre in 2008.

Re: Some possible rule changes.

There already is a rule that should have been called...maybe clarification OF that rule is what is needed. It was called in the KC-Mia game late in the season and the hit was not even close to the one on Brady. Odd that two plays that were similar one..reviewed by the league and CALLED legal while another was ruled a 15 yard penalty..

1.2B wow, quite a hit.

Just curious where that figure comes from?? $1.2 BILLION?? That seems a bit high...no?

How about this new rule: The next time we play them, we get to injure the player of our choice, taking him out for the season and then have the media say that we did nothing wrong, it was all perfectly legal and just unfortunate. I like Cassel, he did a great job for us last year, but he's on the other side of the field now so when we play them again, I'm hoping Mayo folds him in half and they have to bring in their backup, who at that point will probably be Cutler.

Pretty classy there. It's good though. We need all the bad karma we can get our hands on.

Re: Some possible rule changes.

Stupid. A defender on their knees trying to make a tackle won't be affected by "I might get fined if I make this tackle".

It sucks, but you really can't do much to avoid it.

 Goodness, that's not nice at all.

I don't care who it is or what team it is, I don't wish what we went thru last year on any team. We don't need opposing injuries to win games, our team is just that good.
