Hey all ... the Wonderlic scores from this year's draft class are starting to come out. We have a few of them here.

Most D1 kids are athletes forced to go to school. See FSU's current troubles for an indication of that.

True D1 football student athletes are becoming rarer. Too bad more are not like Rolle.

I'm a college professor, and when I look at the test the questions are not that difficult. However, I'm sure that the pressure of the situation and the stakes of the test as well as the short time limit can combine to lower many scores. It seems that thinking quickly and clear decision making are part of the measurables.

i think you have to be a bright guy to be a linebacker in BB's system. That's why I say no to Ray Mauluga and yes to Clay Matthews. Matthews appears to be much more physical too.

Most big time football programs have "special" classes for the dumbasses parading as "student" athletes. They are athletes paid by the school, nothing less. Shame on the schools. Mens basketball programs are far worse than football for almost graduating male students. Compared to the womens graduation rates for all sports the men (boys) should be embarrassed but it's hard to embarrass someone when their too dumb to realize they are being made fools of.

Honestly, who cares? The guys going to the schools as athletes probably wouldn't be getting a degree any other way, and they're acting as entertainers for the American public without getting paid for it.

Nice post.....................Tell me something, if your an extraordinarily gifted athlete but not college material, but want to play professional football, what are you supposed to do?
Then, you compare the men's programs to the girls, who do not go on to professional sports and some, are not even athletes, but are playing a "sport" to receive a free education (Title IV).

I agree 100%. Anxiety, and nerves will def. affect your thought patterns.

IQ smarts and test scores do not always match up perfectly.

Not to Hijack the thread (or semi Hijack it) But Reiss is back and posting on Boston.com, so we'll probably getting more frequent and better info (on this topic and just in general) again, not that Gasper did all that bad. You fail to mention that college football coaches have the luxury of larger rosters and the ability to redshirt even the top recruits allowing them to go to class a full year without the pressures of playing. Yes they still practice and go to meetings but the carry a higher course load for that year than their non-redshirted teammates. Basketball rarely redshirts players since there are only 13 available scholarships and redshirts count against that limit. Coaches are forced to play their players right away and with the NBA's joke age limit, and the fact that many college basketball players spend a year doing post-grad work at a prep school, and you see why college basketball graduates a lower percentage of its players.

Football is a combination of brawn and brain--both are needed for best results. Having players on the field who are mentally quick and not shaken by pressure has many kinds of benefits. BB knows that and drafts and trades accordingly. The first to do that, so far as I know, was Paul Brown, who famously gave candidate players IQ tests.
