Couldn't believe my ears when Clayton said this on ESPN radio's "The Huddle" yesterday afternoon.

Jeremy Green, Clayton's co-host, said the Patriots are already the clear favorites to win the SuperBowl (even w/o Peppers).

Later in the show Joey Galloway was interviewed and he sounded really cool. Said he was fully expecting to get his 40 time down to the 4.2's by training camp.

Well he is entitled to his opinion. Its a good thing that Claytons opinions hold very little value to them. I wonder who he feels is a favorite to go to the SB from the AFC.

4.2s??? For real?

Yes. They talked about how early in his career when he was with the Seahawks in the late 90's he ran a 4.19 timed by Holmgren himself. And they asked what could he run today. He joked saying what do you mean by 'today,' b/c he was getting ready to watch some college hoops. That's when he said that by training camp, he would be in "the 4 2's."

Not paying much attention to the NFC, I never realized how fast he is. He must be considered one of the fastest guys in the league, right?

I'll take 4.4's.......Geez, if he's still running 4.2's at age 37 (if he can stay healthy), that'll really open things up. With elder statesmen Moss and Galloway still fast, and running deep, Welker may catch 200 passes this year, lol.

As a fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs I cant get over that little wimpy corpse having the same name as John Clayton Lord of Greystoke(Tarzan).....Everytime I see him I expect him to laugh ghoulishly and make some sick pun...as hes a dead ringer for The Crypt Keeper. But what really galls me is his total obvious bias against the Pats.

Here are his predictions form last year with SD over Dallas in the Super Bowl....FWIW

Cowboys emerge as Super Bowl favorites - NFL - ESPN

If not for a monumental collapse by Denver, neither team would have even made the playoffs.

Clayton is an idiot...and he can make all his DUMB opinions known..The Professor?? Of what BS?

The disrespect card returns!

Thanks, Cryptkeeper.

Clayton had the Chargers beating Dallas in the Super Bowl in his preseason predictions. The Cowboys didn't even make the playoffs and the Broncos giftwrapped the AFC West title to an average at best Chargers team (the Chargers wouldn't have made the playoffs if they were in any other division).

I will give him credit. He had the Pats beating the Bears in 2007 (at least he got one of the participants right although he didn't have the Giants even making the playoffs and the Bears missed the playoffs) and the Colts beating the Seahawks in 2006 (apparently Clayton doesn't believe in the curse of Super Bowl losers not getting into the playoffs the following year)

Our experts: And the champ will be... - NFL - ESPN
2006 NFL predictions - NFL - ESPN

My point is that Clayton like every other talking head gets these predictions wrong more than they get it right. I really don't care if he thinks the Pats are a Super Bowl team or not.

No one thought the Cards were a Super Bowl team even when the playoffs started. Everyone thought the Giants would be one and done the year before. No one thought the Colts could beat the Chiefs in the first round of the playoffs the year before. And those were predictions in January, not March.

It's March.

I am sure he is in the top tier of speed guys...but a 4.2 is pretty unbelievable. Galloway ran a 4.38 at his own combine and 4.30 was the fastest at this year's combine...so no way a 37yo runs better now than at age 21. I think he is 4.45 at best...but what do I know?

I agree with the dude that said hed like to know who his pics actually are. The patriots without brady are above most in the nfl, with brady, nothing short of a fluke keeps them from the crown. Naw mean?

No one on ESPN knows what they're talking about. They change their predictions and opinions at the drop of a hat. If the Pats win big in week 1, Clayton will suddenly claim they're the team to beat. It's just the way ESPN "analysts" work.

Time flys my friend, next think you know we'll be reading the offical game thread for week 1...........2010

But that won't be in March. Not only that, but there will be Patriots "fans" there talking about how much the defense sucks because it gave up a first down on 3rd and 5.

Clayton.... what was that crazy statement he made earlier in the year ? I forget what it was, but it was even worse than this one. DOes anyone recall ?

I know many here are bigtime ESPN haters, and that's cool, but from an objective standpoint, why would they think it's valuable to have him onboard ? Clearly not his Brad Pittness.

Forget Peppers, we are the favorite by a wide margin right now. Not that I care what that little Elf says.

Does everyone really think Brady will not have atleast a few problems coming back? It all depends on how well he over comes them.
