Per the Denver Post:

Footnotes.

Former Broncos backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey is deciding whether to sign with New England or Tennessee...

Seems like he would have a better shot at being the primary backup in NE, unless Tennessee plans on getting rid of Vince Young.

That would seem like a no brainer to me...who would you rather throw to: Randy, Wes, Faulk; or That rookie last year and...I don't even know? I'd also go out on a limb and say that Tenn can't really afford to pay all that much to a QB given Young at #2...maybe they sign Ramsey and move Vince on draft day a la Manny and the sox? He does seem to fit the role of head case pretty well, I wouldn't say it is completely out of the question.

Re: QB Patrick Ramsay deciding between NE and Ten

I could see if he had a better chance to start there, but maybe he does? Maybe Fisher told him I'm stuck with Young for a little, I'll let you play though if Collins sucks.

I mean, what else can it be? If he comes here he's the guy the second Brady goes down. If that happens, please god no, he'd be throwing to Moss, Faulk, Welker, Galloway, etc. It's a no brainer.

Would not mind him, would be a good back up and compete with O Connel

He'd #3 wherever he goes.

Unless NE plans on getting rid of O'Connell, he has the same situation here as in Tenn.

If Brady goes down, it'll be O'Connell coming in, not Ramsey.

My guess is Ramsey would be for TC purposes (usually 4 QBs in TC) and then cut for the shadow roster.

Re: QB Patrick Ramsay deciding between NE and Ten

I think that would be great if he came here; I consider Ramsey to be the best available QB remaining in free agency. I'm kind of surprised he's not looking at a team where he might have a chance to compete for a starting job (Vikings, Jets, Bucs, 49ers, Bears, etc.)

Really? Aren't Jeff Garcia and Byron Leftwich both still free agents? Either of them are better than Ramsey, especially Garcia.

There have to be a few teams for whom Leftwich and Garcia would be an upgrade over their starter (like the Bears).

Yeah, Garcia has always been a pretty good QB. He just can't seem to stay with one team for very long. I'd love to have him as a backup with the Pats.

I think Garcia's arm is pretty weak, and fits in strictly in a WCO. He seems to take off scrambling with just a little bit of pressure and he's what, 39 now? Leftwich looked good last year but was horrible in Atlanta in '07 after losing his starting job in '06. With that big windup of his passes get telegraphed and he gets hit more often than he should.

Each has their pros and cons but I think I'd be inclined to go with Ramsey myself. As I recall those Redskins teams he was on were pretty bad, especially on defense when he was there.

Re: QB Patrick Ramsay deciding between NE and Ten

Ramsey played in a spread shotgun offense at Tulane, and was drafted by Steve Spurrier to run his Fun'N'Gun offense in Washington, before Gibbs took over.

Sound familiar?

Re: QB Patrick Ramsay deciding between NE and Ten

KOC will win the #2 over Ramsey!

I think we need to get some t-shirts printed up asap in case o'connell plays.

I'm thinking, "I <3 KOC!"

Re: QB Patrick Ramsay deciding between NE and Ten

I'm OK with Ramsey as the #3 behind KO'C. About the best available vet QB around right now. Course that could change down the road.....

I was thinking of getting a KOC jersey :D

The backup with the most potential in the NFL!

In what system? Garcia is strictly a West Coast Offense QB and a very poor choice for NE. Leftwich isn't anything to brag about and he's so slow with his release he'd really disrupt this O-line's rythm. Ramsey would be competing with Gutierrez, whom he might beat out, but I'd think he has a better shot of winning a roster slot in Tenessee.

Re: QB Patrick Ramsay deciding between NE and Ten

I am not sure where he fits in here whether he would be QB3 or camp fodder but I guess his decision isn't coming down to who he likes more because our WRs and SB chances would probably win that argument mostly the WRs but his choice is probably more geared to his own life.

His choice probably comes down to where he thinks he is likely to earn a roster spot. Which team is he more likely to atleast make him QB3. In other words where does Ramsey think he is most likely going to collect 16 checks from.

BINGO! I agree with this completely.

I hope he signs with the Titans.
