I thought Rosie played pretty good coming in late last season. How come no one is talking about him in the mix at OLB? Did he fail another physical?

When Colvin came back he was on EEI and they were talking about his workout regimen out prior to his signing, and he said something to the effect that chasing his kids around all day was akin to an NFL workout.. I have chased kids around and find that hard to believe.

With that being said, what was his desire to stay in really great shape if the NFL call came?? Do not want to judge, but seems as though his heart is somewhere else.. it is a tough balance family staying in NFL shape..

Are we sure that we're not taking that the wrong way? I don't know, but he looked in shape, and pretty good in those last few games. Keep in mind, JR said something similar.

They played much better with Rosie out there, he would have been a welcome addition earlier in the year in NY or Indy games. I can't believe TBC can give more than Rosie even at this stage of his carreer.

Agreed. I'd like to know his status as well.

I thought Colvin did help, but was nowhere near the form he exhibited before his foot injury. He was one of my favorite players and I hope that he is in TC. If he can beat out TBC, which I think he could if his heart was in it, I would be more than happy.

If BB thought he was a better option than TBC he would have signed him. His best chance would be a late season emergency call up. We are getting faster and younger on defense. I think JT is a more likely bet.

Basically sums it up. TBC and Colvin would play the same role so one would have to get cut anyway. I just wish they signed Colvin instead of TBC.

I guess for special team reasons TBC probably got the nod.

Colvin's situation mystifies me. If he's good enough to fill in like that, why isn't he good enough to at least come to camp and compete for a job?

No that is pretty much what he said, I was surprised to hear it.. not judging.. just have to wonder how much his heart is into it??? It is hard to assess how well he played.. he looked ok..

I'm guessing Colvin semi-retires and ends up on our shadow roster.

I think the Patriots are trying to move on from the past and would only bring back Rosie in an emergency - like last year.

I tend to agree...sort of will play if needed...but is sort of moving on past football..It's always a hard transition...but I think that is the case that both he and the team wish to move on.

Speaking of Jr, am I correct in this coincidental statistic? :

Junior, as a Patriot, has lost only one game in his tenure here (22-1)

Is this correct? I know it's completely coincidental but--WOW!!!

18-1, then 4-0 last yr?

No, Seau played the year before too (when he broke his arm).

What I want to see is both Jr and Rosie in training camp, competing for a spot. I think they earned that much. I also wouldn't be surprised if either made the squad. Plus, if injuries were to pile on like they did last year, then at least they would have the plays and schemes fresh in their systems. It would also force the guys to get into some kind of shape. I'm not too worried about Jr's condition, but Rosie's workouts (consisting of brushing his daughter's hair) leave a lot to be desired.

Thanks man, I was just too lazy to look it up--thought it sounded too good to be true:)

As far as seeing them in camp, that's a tough one to call. I agree with you that they certainly earned the right, but am a bit leery as we should have a lot of better competition this yr. I really wouldn't mind Jr, but not sure about Colvin

If we need Colvin on the roster, we're in trouble.

It would signify 1 or both of the following:

- that the OLB corps has been decimated by injury
- the youngsters, like Woods and Crable, haven't stepped up

It's like Troy Brown at CB. We loved him for it, but it resulted from a spate of injuries in the secondary.

I agree, I think we're done with both--Colvin for sure

TBC seems to be more of the Izzo replacement who can situational pass rush.

It would not be shocking to see Rosie in the mix in some capacity. Can he give us 15-20 snaps per game and at what cost?
