It seems like every time someone gets cut there is a thread asking if the Patriots should sign him. So I thought that we can consolidate those names into one thread.

I know that it won't stop other threads from being posted as soon as someone gets cut but we can add names so we don't miss anyone.

Jason Taylor
Torry Holt
Orlando Pace
Samari Rolle

Those are 4 that come quickly to mind. Add names that I didn't mention as you think of them.

And didn't we already try this?

Wait, ESPN's FA tracker has Rodney Harrison 2009 team as the Patriots. Did we officially resign him? The thought he was still a UFA??? Anyone know?

That's interesting stuff. I guess maybe it went unnoticed as no big deal outside the fanbase?

Could be an error, though. They still show Pierre Woods as an FA (unless he still is, technically).

I agree PATSNUTme. it would be nice if mods could sticky such a thread
and then just move all such new threads to it.

Ridiculous idea. There's nothing else going on, and who wants to read a thread that grows by ten pages a day?

If you see the words "released" or "sign" in a subject, the easiest way to cope is step away from the mouse-pad.

Geez, maybe we should euthanize people with sub-poverty incomes and require an ID chip implant for tracking nation-wide while we're at it?

Gimme that badge, you don't know how to use it.

Because there's just so much going on that will get missed if we have these threads this time of year......

I concurr! All these threads about sign this one, sign that one are cluttering up the forum and there's not even a game day thread yet about today's Pats v Fish game! I'm really excited about it because I predict that the Pats have figured out the wild kitty, and will stuff it in a sack and drown it in the everglades! Score prediction: 48-28!

Uhhh....oh, there's no games...I was looking at my DVR recorded list instead of the channel guide. My bad. Carry on!

i lol'd hard...thanks man

That thread is sooo Feb 2009. Interesting who started it, must have had a change of heart.

This was done tongue in cheek. Those threads will never stop.

Nah, I never thought it would be a catch-all. I just wanted to be the first!

YAHBOGATA!!

Look you guys can have your fun, but if This Guy is actually available at a decent amount of money, the Pats would be idiots not to sign him. It goes without saying that This Guy will take a "hometown discount" even though he's never been to New England, and that he is in fact an old friend of Bill Belichick's daughter, albeit through a couple of degrees of separation, so he's practically family already. It's pretty much a given that This Guy will do what he has to do to get in a Patriots uni, and it's a good thing too, because as everybody in New England (but amazingly nobody anywhere else) knows, Our Guy is constantly injured/on his last legs/a JAG in the first place.

This Guy's last team is idiotic to cut him, but most other teams' FOs are idiotic. How else do you think they built entire other teams that are Not the Patriots? Our FO is obviously superior over time but cannot be trusted to make the right move and bring in This Guy, given the obvious upgrade he represents.

SO... don't be such damn Homers/Chicken Littles. I remember I was the first guy that said bring in Randy Moss and that turned out okay.

Does this, or can this include possible scenarios as in a team wanting to move a player and trade for picks? As in contract issues that can't be resolved or "I am a spoiled baby" issues, like Cutler? or conduct issues where the Giants might move Plaxico?

Jay Cutler QB Broncos (Wahhh!)
Jason Peters OT Bills (Show me da money)
Anquan Bolden WR Cardinals (Broken promises)
Julius Peppers DE Panthers (Get me to a 3-4 please)
Chad Johnson WR Bengals(Quite lately?)
Derrick Mason WR Ravens (see Bolden)
Braylon Edwards WR Browns (Team choice. Mangini cleans house)
Shaun Rogers DT Browns (see Cutler)
Larry Johnson RB Chiefs (See Cutler)
Plaxico Burress WR Giants (see new stylish orange jump suit)
Reggie Williams WR Jaguars (see Plaxico)
Matt Jones WR Jaguars (see Plaxico)
Tony Gonzales TE Chiefs (see Ocho Cinco)
Michael Huff S Raiders (Wrong team. See Moss and Bodden)
Antonio Cromartie CB Chargers (Was sat down in 2008. Why? On somebodies "S" list)
Brain Urlacher LB Bears (End of the line. Get something quick)
Ellis Hobbs III CB Patriots-??? (Dreaming of FA for years (this year) and said so. Wants to get into the Assante club. We just got two starting type CB's....Hmmmm?)
Jeremy Shockey TE Saints (Wants $)
Donovan McNabb QB Eagles (Wants assistant GM job to "pick groceries")
Derek Anderson QB Browns (Somebody's going. Why the $5m parting gift Johnny Pardo?)

When did he say this?

Guy? He must be 60 by now.

Great hang time, though.

The thing is those people who start new threads for players, will continue doing so. They're not going to post what they consider breaking news in this thread.

When did he say this?

When Assante was still with the team (2 yeras ago?) . I do not know if I can find it anymore. He definitely said it and pi**** off the posters here. It was a reaction to when Assante left for the $.

P.S. Funny stuff from a Steelers site:

It seems the Pats aren't done making chessmaster free agency moves.

Foxborough-

In an effort to create cap space to sign their numerous draft picks in the upcoming season. The New England Patriots have struck a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers sending them the 4 year veteran starting cornerback for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick. The trade was a shocker coming so soon after a trade that sent Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel to Kansas City for the rock bottom price of a second round draft pick.
"I am in shock" stated Hobbs "I didn't see this coming, I am very upset I wasn't given any notice, I thought that I would be here for years to come." Hobbs was visibly shaken. "I will be the best Steeler I can be, but I will always be a Patriot at heart."
Bill Belichick could not be reached for comment. However, a team spokesman declared "This is just buisness, we loved everything he (Hobbs) did for us and we wish him luck in his carrer."
Hobbs recorded 198 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 9 interceptions in his four year carrer with New England.
The deal helped Pittsburgh sure up an already dominant secondary as they expect to lose Bryant McFadden to free agency. McFadden is the backup to Deshae Townsend who is an aging cornerback. The trade also includes an option for Pittsburgh to pick up Richard Seymore for a cheese sandwich and an autograpghed Ben Roethlisberger jersey.

:smileytongue:
