As a result of bad management in Cleveland, Donte may become a cap casualty early this afternoon.

Would you take him back on the cheap to compete for the #3 spot again?

I said "yip":

A tenure in Cleveland and now have THE Manjudas who made 2007 so... interesting as his boss, Stallworth may like the look of the grass in Foxborough. If he was cheap enough, I'd bring him in.

In a WR hungry league, though something tells me the Jets will be charging after him if he comes loose.

Receiver Donté Stallworth is owed a bonus of $4.75 million in his seven-year, $35 million contract.

JSP would probably pick him up at the airport.

I'm the only maybe so far. The only thing I'm concerned with is contract. How much would we be paying our #3 (who eventually lost that role the last time he was here) receiver?

Re: Donte Stallworth may get cut today. Would you take him back?

For short money I wouldn't mind him in the WR3 competition. I liked him in naught-7.

Re: Donte Stallworth may get cut today. Would you take him back?

I hear Ben Coates and Marion Butts also want to come back into football, anyone think they'd be awesome pick ups for the Pats? Gosh, this stuff is madness. I still do not understand why every single time one player is cut from a team, we always need to do a "Hey, Bin Laden just got cut from Al Qaeda, any interest?" in him type threads or polls.

I'm the other.

His reason for being cut was his fat contract. If he accepts less money than YES ........why not?

This is an active guy in the league that played pretty well for the Pats 2 seasons ago. You consider discussing him "madness". You need to CTFO.

Right, this is exactly the same thing. How did I ever miss it.

It'd be different he was just a year removed from playing WR on a record setting offense... what the heck was I thinking?

I think you were thinking that this was a reasonable question. And you were right.

Can Bin Laden play OLB with his medical condition?

Hes tall enough to play TE,but he'd have to put a few pounds on.

Re: Donte Stallworth may get cut today. Would you take him back?

I think his value to us last time was decent for the 1 year he played for us.

I'm not sure he was any better than Gaffney though, so I wouldn't even consider taking him back for anything but a cheap 1 year deal.

How much of an upgrade is he over Lewis? How much is that worth to us?

Re: Donte Stallworth may get cut today. Would you take him back?

I answered "Yip" cuz you specified "on the cheap". He was losing playing time to Gaffney (though I probably have a higher opinion of Gaff than most on this board) in 07. I think his hands aren't that good when he's running full tilt, and I think he struggled a bit with the playbook and system in the beginning.

On the bright side, I really like the guy... or at least the imperssion I've gotten from him in interviews. He's also got great YAC, and really participated in the blocking for his fellow receivers. He's a fast bastid too.

Made of glass?

Made of glass?

I was going with "probably dead", myself. If not that, "needing dialysis" would still have to be at least a yellow flag.

Re: Donte Stallworth may get cut today. Would you take him back?

I took "maybe" depending mostly on $ but also we've got Moss,Welker,Lewis,Aiken and Slater(?) I think. So if we were able to pick up Donte for cheap would we carry all of them or?

I liked Donte and I'm more than happy to give TFB as many welcome back presents as we can :) :)

And with Randy getting doubled/tripled up more and more plus Wes getting increased attention last season, mixing it up out there by throwing in a Donte-type would be pretty sweet.

Re: Donte Stallworth may get cut today. Would you take him back?

I voted no, but I should have voted maybe. If he is willing to sign for very short money, yes. But the guy showed last year that he is still very injury prone and he fell out of favor with the Pats at the end of the season too falling to fourth on the depth charts.

Stallworth had a few great plays in 2007, but I felt his year was overrated by a lot on this board. Many people defended him blaming McDaniels for his fall down the Pats depth charts. I just wonder if the Pats really feel they can count on him other than a situational guy. And I was a guy who was extremely high on his signing in 2007, but he disapointed me.

Why not? People were complaining about Gaffney, and Gaffney played Stallworth off the roster.
