The 3 before 1st overtime was pretty insane

yah whatd he miss getting it of by .0000001 seconds?

Syracuse wins it, finally.

Dryheat and FreeTed will be in the bag today.

Born and raised in Syracuse NY right here.

Greatest game i have ever seen in any sport. Jonny Flynn is downright disgusting

One of the longest games I have ever watched but great :camera:, so much fun :woohoo: (reminded me of buffalo wild wings commercial about sending games into overtime), sort of wanted a 7th OT haha :D. Congrats Syracuse, but UConn also played extremely well :rocker::eat3:, and Johnny Flynn is a beast :youtheman:, but I was cheering for the walk on to score :pigsfly:, I know this is getting annoying but I will end with what both teams are doing now

UConn alum who has just gotten up for work after watching every minute of that game...

It is hard to be upset about the game when you see the effort both teams put in. However, this UConn team appears to be the Dallas Cowboys of NCAA hoops. All the talent in the world and they can't win a bleepin post season game. So many chances to win the game in each OT (except the last) and they couldn't put it away. I hope they can get over this and play well in the big dance next week. Congrats to Syracuse and time for my Huskies to get some rest and get back to work.

As a WVU fan, I couldn't have asked for a better game....

There was a players' poll in SI (obviously it is set in stone) that asked which coach you would like to play for least. Calhoun won in resounding fashion. The quote was something to the effect of players are affraid of him and affraid to try anything that they might screw up doing. He's too much of a hard@$$ to his players. I seriously think his mentality is what leads to these constant underachievements.

Utica born SU Grad here...

Awesome and completely unexpected game. SU is gonna be toast today. WVU was a winner last night, too.

WTF!! Constant underachievements??! The guy has 800 wins, multiple Final 8s, 2 national championships. Where are you seeing constant underachieving. He also has more players in the NBA than anyone else! And these are players he develops. He doesn't get top drawer talent out of high school. Of the 20 guys that have been in the NBA in the last 10 years, only 5 of them were ranked in the top 50.

Kids don't like to play for Calhoun because he's a hardass. There was a similar poll for the NFL, and Belichick was not very popular. Despite what people say, it's not all about winning. If it were, more kids would want a coach like Calhoun to develop them.

I watched the whole game, great effort for th kids, especially in overtime.

But, you can't really say that was a great game. Both teams were a little off during regulation, and then they were just gassed in OT.

I have to give SU a lot of credit though because they could have folded in a couple of OTs when they were down.

The CUSE!!!!

Way to go Saltine Warriors, ohhhhh, I mean Orangemen, ohh, Orange!!

Ask Caron Butler about JC sometime. I think you will get a very different impression.

+1.

I think that if you did a poll asking players who they would like to play for, Calhoun would be pretty high up there, along with Coach K and other coaches who send a lot of players to the NBA.

Ditto with Belichick--IIRC, he was the #2 coach on the "Who you would like to play for" poll, too, because he puts players in a position to succeed.

While this is no such statistic, I think Uconn has produced the largest NBA players per bust ratio of any school. The only player of any prominence from Uconn that has not produced at a quality level in the NBA would be Marcus Williams. And even he still has some time to turn it around.

Other schools like UNC and Duke are filled with NBA busts, but Uconn produces year in and year out. Calhoun may be a prick, and truthfully I think he is, but he definitely has shades of Belichick in him.

I'm not so sure he's a prick. If a guy is hard on his players, yet manages to have great relationships with them (as evidenced by the fact that all his players come back to Storrs, maintain contact with him, call him regularly) I start to wonder whether he's a surly cuss or he just likes to yell. Bobby Knight he ain't.
