But I'm getting off track here. Don't be surprised if there is still "unfinished
buisness" between these 2 franchises and because of that even more eyebrows waved among the pundits with speculations as to the politics and nature of these transactions.
Where am I going with this? New England has 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. Kansas City has one. Expect Kansas City to trade their 1st Round pick (#3) to New England for New England's 1st, and 2 of their 2nd's (the lower 2 towards the end of that round). It makes sense. New England is still playoff bound. They don't need alot, but after losing Vrabel, Colvin, and Willie McGinnest,I think its fair to say that an impact Linebacker is not only a need but a necessity and that's where Aaron Curry comes into play. New England wants him and Kansas City will have him. The loss of the 3 previously mentioned frees up enough cap room to accomidate a large contract. In fact, New England can pick yet another at the top of Round 2 (which was KC's pick before the Cassel deal)
And The Chiefs? They don't have to worry about the financial considerations of taking a pick that high and then would use their 3 picks(all from New England) on whoever they choose. Pass Rusher, Offensive Tackle and Linebacker maybe? As a Chief fan I am not an advocate for this deal but if they choose to trade down who better to trade with? Of course, writers will have a field day with this story, but we can all take this with a grain of salt. SO THERE. Don't say I didn't warn you
