#468 Robert Kraft - The World's Billionaires 2009 - Forbes.com

Kraft first made the list as #698 in 2006, with a net worth of $1.1B. He was #754 in 2007 but with a net worth of $1.3B. He again gained wealth in 2008, to $1.4B, but moved down to #843. He is now #468, with a net worth of $1.5B.

This is especially significant because:

The richest people in the world have gotten poorer, just like the rest of us. This year the world's billionaires have an average net worth of $3 billion, down 23% in 12 months. The world now has 793 billionaires, down from 1,125 a year ago.

With all the credit BB gets we need to give equal credit to RK. He bought the team and made it his mission to build a great football team. Once he found BB he had the brains to stand back and let the football genius do his thing. Amidst the spygate nonsense he gave BB an extension to remind him he is loved by fans, players, and his employer. Thanks Mr. Kraft!

Oh and I suppose having $1.5 billion wouldn't be bad either!

Belichick was extended prior to the Spygate stuff. It wasn't announced until after Spygate though. Michael Smith knew about the extension since the summer, but sat on it until the Pats gave him the ok to run with it because he was given the exclusive.

Wow. Making money in 2008 would be like having a winning record with a backup quarterback. Seriously.

It says his main money is in manufacturing too. I guess even in a recession people need to shave, right?

lets say he is worth $1B now, given the downdrafts.
how much of that net worth is tied up in NEP, Gillette, Patriots Place etc? i am guessin NEP are worth $.6B and Gillette and all that land and shopping?

my point -- the guy is HEAVILY weighted in Patriots in his portfolio. i think this could be good, because it means he really means business.

I think most posters here are smart enough to know this, but please make sure that before you start screaming about Kraft and ticket prices. It's important to know that Kraft's liquid wealth is FAR below that quoted no.

His assets equal that No. and if he wanted to sell all his holdings - Patriot's, Patriot Place, his company, ETC. that he could POTENTIALLY draw that amount of money from the sale of his assets.

The dude is NOT rolling around with over $1 billion in the bank.

Gillette is just the sponsor - Robert owns another company - International Forest Products.

He also steers the Rand-Whitney Group.

Good for Bob Kraft. He's a class act that an average guy like me doesn't mind see become richer, unlike some of the diabolical dirtbags that swindle their way there. I just hope he can maintain that level because this year could be a true test as the economy doesn't look to improve any time soon.

I hope they did not invest with B. Madoff.

He married money..

Gotta feel bad for those billionaires.

Not. :p

He married money..

Indeed, Myra's father has more schools and medical wings named after him that George Washington - Of course I am exaggerating a little bit.

As has been noted, he's in the paper business.

He's benefited from the tremendous increase in paper demanded by the treasury this year.

Everbody's got problems.......
