We started this week with $12.4M not counting the contracts for Springs and Bodden.

I still would like to re-sign Mike Wright, but we may be planning on a Day One DE draftee instead.

Bodden apparently signed for the veteran minimum, so I guess we enough money for Wright or a wide receiver.

In a sad note, Patriots.com reported today that all the remaining cap money had been taken. A fellow named Miguel (I may have spelled that incorrectly) was alleged to have absconded with the millions. A clever ruse with a supposed blind fella and a dog distracted the IT security types long enough for him to physically hack the server farm.

considering how cheaply we signed bodden, around 750K, our cap should not have been affected much

So with the signing of Bodden and Springs, the Pats should have about $8.2 remaining, right?

Considering the need to put some in reserve to replace injured players, etc., I would think it's safe to say that the Julius Peppers and Jason Taylor talk can be laid to rest.

what??

he did??

god, I love the pats so much.
if brady comes back close to 100% and they can just stay healthy, this team is going to kick mucho ass.

I just wonder how many I can get on my fantasy team.

i dunno i think peppers talk should stop but if taylor can be had for 5mill to 6 mill. still gives us 2.4 in case of injuries

2.4 to sign the draft picks. Take that players union!

i wouldnt rule out Jason Taylor.

Not a gut feeling. Its the truth.

A player who signs for the veteran minimum counts the same against the cap as a third-season player ($460K in 2009). Moreover, he also bumps a player making nearly as much off the cap, since only the top 51 salaries count right now. Given that the 51st salary currently belongs to one of the 2008 UDFAs, that's $385K that comes off the cap, so the net cap hit for signing Bodden is . . . $75K. :D

Well done...

The Bodden signing basically washes away a lower player

I certainly hope so. We have to remember, we need money to sign draft picks(which we have alot of em, if we don't trade em), plus there might be someone we're interested in that could be a june 1st cut. Maybe even a surprise cut after the draft. Basically, i just don't want to spend all the money on Taylor, or peppers.

I wonder if BB has any plans to release any veterans to save money on the cap, ie Bruschi, etc. I did read on another pats board that Roy williams had contacted the pats about coming here, dont know if there is any truth to it though

What report? Where?

One would think so. Note that we could extend Faulk (and perhaps Light and Green) and free up cap money.

Maybe Miguel will finish his nap and post the Springs, Bodden, and our new long snappers cap #'s soon.:D
