Found this little nugget and don't remember anything besides speculation. Is this a little rumour lost in the woods, or is there more to it?

Brady recruiting Taylor

The 2007 NFL Defensive Player of the Year could be coming to Foxboro sooner than you think. According to an NFL source, Jason Taylor is currently being recruited by quarterback Tom Brady. Preposterous? Wrong. Before Gisele Bundchen entered the picture, Brady and Taylor met up a few times during the off-season in south Florida. They apparently "text" each other often. The issue will come down to time and money. Taylor says he wants to spend more time with his family rather than attend off-season training — that's a key reason the Redskins cut him. He also will want about $7 million per year, probably guaranteed, over the next two years.

If Brady can recruit, he may eliminate his worst nightmare - EagleTribune.com, North Andover, MA

Probably little more than a rumor the way it's written. That said, I have no doubt that Brady is working him to some extent. I don't think the off-season stuff is a big concern. He'd come in, get the playbook, run the mini-camps and the start of TC, and once BB is comfortable with his level of competence in the scheme, there will be a "practice injury" ;) that will sideline him for the rest of camp.

We will, of course, mumble and grumble about him "being on the bubble" and stuff, but come W1, he will be fine.

The biggest hurdle is $$. I don't see us going much more then 4.75-5 M (+ incentives) for him. Hopefully, he'll take a little less to play with BB n' company.

If the Pats can pick him up on the cheap, this team will be scary..... real scary. :scared:

Hmmm

An older player that needs to learn a new playbook, at a new position, and doesn't want to participate in an off-season training program wants big guaranteed money?

Anyone else see all the red flags here?

More like we would tell the rest of the NFL :rip::beatingcoming:

Yeah, Im with you on the red flags. If he's really expecting that kindof money, then he needs to move his family here immediately, and work his butt off for the next 10 months.

Taylor at that kindof money needs to be ALL IN. Hangin' with the family, signing up in May, sorry. Not more than a mil and a half. And if 1.5 at that point isnt enough, good luck in your retirement or whereever else you end up.

Im personally a little surprised to hear of that $7mil figure. Id have to assume he's either nuts and a ring really isnt all that important to him. Or that # just isnt accurate.

Bill, for the love of god, sign the guy already!

We all know he's going to be a Patriot next year, everyone just get over whatever your issues with Jason are and deal with the fact that Bill can't help himself but sign the older "HOF" type of defensive players.

He's gonna be a Patriot - and most likely we will be better off for it.

I don't understand this one....Taylor's whole beef about staying in Miami was that he wanted to play in a 4-3 because he is uncomfortable playing in space. It sounds like alot of money for a guy we are not really sure would fit our scheme. 7 Mil guaranteed??? No thanks! maybe if we could get him for half that he would be worth the experiment, but not at that hefty price tag.

JT's been my binky long time and we know BB loves him too. He's one of those guys who could destroy us and sorta like Wes, why not pick up the ones who made the Pats lives miserable in the past:D

It was somewhat of a bummer when he ended up with the Skins but the "downside" can't just be ignored

Tomzilla can be a pretty good recruiter tho, so Xfingers crossedX he sways JT off the above (assuming the quoted part above is factual).

I don't buy the high $$$ thing. He threw away WADS of cash to get out of Washington. The trouble there was they had him on his "wrong" end.

That could be an issue here too, if he prefers rushing from the same side as AD. But I think if he signs, it won't be mean money, it'll be for a shot at a ring.

Uh, perhaps someone more familiar with the gossip side of the NFL can correct me, but isn't Taylor divorced from Zach Thomas' sister? Which may mean the family isn't moving. Of course I also have to ask if Taylor's Hollywood career plans will have any impact on his spending time with his family?

They got back together. They never got a divorce.

Well, I live in the woods, didn't read this article, and mentioned some time ago (others have also), that Taylor is highly respected by some Pats players (not just Brady) -- both on and off the field. Then wouldn't that lead one to expect our team leader to connect with him during his world travels? And Belichick...exactly when does he do his annual Florida scouting swing? Good time for a face-to-face -- eh?

I've been as enthusiastic as the next guy for us to sign Taylor. However, if he really expects to get $7 mil per year guaranteed, he is seriously smoking crack. Washington was the only team dumb enough to offer him that kind of money.

At that cost, I'd rather pay some more (and give up draft picks) to get Julius Peppers.

That number has to be wrong. $7 mil per year guaranteed? Smoking crack!

If JT comes here, he won't be paid $7 mil a year, that's a GUARANTEE! However, I do think it is inevitable that he will be signed here. He will take a pay cut to chase a SB. He will be playing opposite AD at OLB and our team will be better for it.

Did you seriously re-spell "rumour" in the quote? What's wrong, are you an anti-canadianite?
