Get used to seeing a lot of Owens, Edwards and the Buffalo Bills - Shutdown... - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Week 1: New England at Buffalo -- Monday night (ESPN) -- You'd have to figure that Tom Brady's return will be a primetime affair. Since the Thursday night slot is already booked by the defending Super Bowl champs and the Sunday nighter likely getting awarded to an NFC team, that leaves ESPN, which would no doubt salivate at the thought of pairing the return of the Golden Boy against their favorite SportsCenter fodder, Terrell Owens. It's just a shame Emmit Smith won't be there to talk about how T.O.'s signing was a "blessing in the skies" for the Bills.

Nah, best ratings go to the Jets Vs Ravens game, at least better ratings then Buff Vs Pats.

The OP makes a good point, Owens will be like Favre part 2. as far as media hype.

I love the fantasy world Jet fans live in….. is there even a recession in your world? will you be wearing your cute little number 4 jersey or have you traded that in for this years fantasy?

No....no it wouldn't. No one outside of Baltimore or NY really cares about Rex Ryan and that "other" NY football team versus the Ravens.

I thought the Jets WERE the Ravens? Didnt they switch rosters or something? :D

They tried to be the Patriots but that didn't work out so well. Now they'll try to be the Ravens. I have a feeling that won't work out so well either. After all, they're the Jets.

heh....the jets.......it will be a highlight on sportscenter each of the half dozen or so times the jets score a touchdown next season

Is there a worse blogger out there than this MJD guy?

In commenting on the original post, I don't think that the Pats-Bills would be a good enough draw for national TV on weekend. Sure, to us it looks good, but to the rest of the country it is two non-playoff teams from the year before. There are many more deserving teams on opening weekend, particularly Tennessee. While I am not a fan of the Titans by any means, something tells me they will get a nationally televised game on opening weekend.

Gotta believe "The Return of Tom Brady" will be the story of week one...just hope it actually happens. Even more than the Steelers hoisting the flag (*I think I just puked a little in my mouth*)

I still think most of the country couldn't care less about the Bills with TO or without TO. The opening game for the Pats may get unusually high ratings, but more for the curiousity factor from people wanting to see how Brady responds in his first game than anything the Bills have to offer.

As for the Jets/Ravens, it is just another game that won't even be played until January 2010 at the earliest. Seriously do Jets fans really think most people care about Ryan going back to play his old team at least any more so than McDaniels playing his mentor? It isn't Mangini vs. Belichick where Belichick groomed Mangini and now Belichick feels betrayed and hates Mangini which added fuel to the fire of a hated rivalry. The Jets and Ravens won't play in the regular season this year and can only meet in the playoffs in the 2009 season. A playoff game would be big anyway. The Jets and Ravens will meet in the 2010 season and I seriously doubt the storyline of Ryan meeting his old team will hold much interest a year later.

Ex-Ravens versus current Ravens will have to wait a year. The Jets play the AFC South, NFC South, Cincinnati and Oakland this year.

Owens will draw media hype just like he has for his entire career. If a columnist can't think of something to write about, they can always fall back to an Owens story.

I was thinking T.O. might actually be good for the Buffalo climate, with all the hot air he spreads around. It's going to be hilarious seeing him in a Bills uniform.

Are you implying that TO and not man-made CO2 emissions is the true cause of global warming? Al Gore won't be happy.

Who in the hell other then Jets fans want to watch two of the most god awful offenses in the NFL play on national television? The Jets dont even have a QB and a #1 WR. Well like guys said they don't play each other anyhow and if they did nobody would care. On the other hand Brady and T.O. would be huge for the first Monday Night Football.

Wake up Jets fans, stop living in a fantasy world LMAO!

Tom Brady coming back is going to be the storyline of the mini and training camp, and you can bet that week one will be on national T.V....the media is gonna beat that story to death (untill favre comes out of retirement)
