We have finished the first phase, the frantic first 10 days. IMHO, We have greatly improved our team. I believe that we have some additional signings that will prepare us for the draft, and give us flexibility as we draft.

The needs at DE, ILB and ILB are clear but seem unlikely to be addressed in free agency, at least not before the draft unless we sign Jason Taylor.

WHO WE HAVE SIGNED OR TENDERED
starting RB Taylor
starting SS Sanders
starting TE Baker
starting OLB Woods (hopefully this is temporary)
starting P Hanson
#3 WR Lewis (hoepfully there will be another to provide competition)
backup OLB TBC
backup OG/C Hochstein
backup ILB Alexander

WHAT WE NEED (we have the cap money to address the needs below)
CB Springs (this isn't final yet)
WR competition for Lewis
#3 S jag vet would be fine
FB not an expensive proposition (we could even not sign one)
LS not an expensive proposition (we could even not sign one)
QB inexpensive competition/replacement for Gutierrez

We already have our FB... Hochstein. :D

I sure would like to hear some good news about the Springs situation real soon

Springs is now in.

We can now move on to safety and wide receiver; and perhaps long snapper, quarterback and fullback.

I have difficulty believing BB won't pick up a long snapper. Special teams are SOOO important, and when you consider that Paxton was the highest paid long-snapper in the league this past year, BB obviously places some importance on the position.

One bum snap and a team loses a game. I'm surprised the Pats

haven't brought in Leach for a look see.

The key word in all of these articles is "agreed". Until the player

puts his "John Han****" on the contract and the league approves

the contract, nothing is official. No word yet that the deal is official.

Probably will be but not yet.

No kidding. You bleep out part of the name of the person who signed the

Declaration of Independence because it could be a dirty word?

The forum is deathly afraid of the word "cøck".

Haha, for goal line sure, but it would be better to have a FB who could also carry the ball on occasion, which I'm not sure Hochstein can do. Even if he doesn't give you more than 2 yards a carry, it adds an extra thing for the defense to worry about on 3rd/4th and inches.

Of course, in those situations, we could always use our best blocking HB too. Is Fred Taylor any good at blocking?

I say the next move to look at Roy Williams. I don't count on Harrison, and even if he makes it back, he can't be the same player. Williams would only cost us 3-4M per, I would guess

I'd say you were a sucker, falling for that

I've always wandered about that. If we could utilize him in a hybrid LB role, like Tank W., then he would be worth a look, no? I hear from many sources that he is just brutal in coverage. Is that a necessity in the hybrid role?

Wow when I clicked on this, I realized it was right below the 'What's Mike Wright's status? thread'. Now that's irony.

Isn't Hochsteain going to be taking over as the Pats longsnapper?

The only ones who believe that post on this site; weel, maybe not the ONLY ones.

Isn't Hochsteain going to be taking over as the Pats longsnapper?
