Has BB completed his rebuilding?

1) A team is never finished rebuilding. There are always contacts that expire and players to replace.

2) Your presumption that the goal is to have everyone under 30 make me think that you are in high school. Our SB bowl teams had lots of veterans, some as starters and some as backups. The problem with this team is the LACK of seasoned veterans not that we have the burden of six players older than 30. I suspect that if it were up to you we wouldn't have just signed Taylor, Hanson and Hochstein. As you note, you already are ready to ship out Bruschi and Hanson. Surely if we draft an OG, the old man Hochstein would be gone.

My suspicion is that you would really like us to get down to only AD and Taylor as the over 30 players and you're not so sure of them.
Mg teich,

Not me. I think any team needs a leavening of experience. Early thirties is prime time for most positions and fine with me.

As far as I am concerned, only Tedy and (Larry Okie) are displaying any symptoms of Over-the-Hill-itis. Larry is pretty much gone, as Sam Akins was brought in last year to head up the STs. Besides Pierre Woods is the ST guru now. The LBs are now overflowing with youth, as is the Defensive backfield, and more young talent will likely join in this year's draft. The D_Line is just entering its Prime, IMHO.

I just question whether BB will be able to find positional room for Tedy, other than on the Shadow Roster.

If anything, y'all are the ones with the long knives for the O linemen. Neal and Light are good for another 3 or 4 years as far as I am concerned. Good linemen, and these are two of the best, play into their mid thirties, as I have said.:D

I 'm prepared for another three years of Superbowl appearances like 2001-2005. :snob:

Thank you for clarifying your position.

I don't think Neal has an injury-free year left. Has he ever had one? I'm fine with Light and even Kaczur. Let's extend them now!

My issue with the OL is that only two are signed beyond this year: Light 2010, Koppen 2011. I'd very much like to draft a tackle at 23 and a guard at 58. We would then have stability going forward.

Izzo is not on the squad.

I expect Bruschi to start as the #3 ILB with behind Mayo and Guyton. I expect a draft choice to move up the depth chart. Only time will tell how fast. Bruschi had a bit more to give. There is value to have him as the on the filed coach of the three kids in the ILB rotation. I would note that he was ahead of Guyton until he was injured. BTW, this is a young LB corps. There will be learning pains. Guyton did very well for a rookie. He should be much better this year.

My guess is that we will carry five OLB's. There is one opening to add to Thomas, Woods, TBC and Crable. I expect the opening to be filled at 23, 34 or by Jason Taylor.

No long knives here. One of my favorite patriots ever was O-T-I-S.

I think that the exact reverse is occurring. The rebuilding is just

beginning. Look at Miguel's free agent page for March 1, 2010 and

see the amount of unrestricted free agents. This list will be even longer

if a new CBA is arrived at before that date.

A year away, many teams have a bundle of unsigned players. I don't consider that too significant. Many here seem to be predicting that Seymour and Wilfork will be hard to sign and BB won't pay them. I think you are all smoking rope.

Do you realize that the Pats great Defensive Line has not a single player over thirty? It hasn't even reached it Prime!

BB has spent his early draft picks on Defensive linemen, as he values them highly.

Do you really believe he won't break into Kraft's piggy bank to keep a sure HOF DE, who by the way had the most sacks on the Team in 2008? Or he will let a preeminent NT, key to the 3-4, walk in Free Agency over a few dollars ? :(

Hardly!

You don't know Bill Belichick. He would cut half his team to find the money, to keep both of his young defensive line STUDs.:D:D

You brag of the future stability of the defensive line. You might consider that only Warren is signed past 2009.

I kind of associate "rebuilding" with what the Chiefs are doing, but I do accept the basic premise of the thread. My answer is, I don't think so.

We still haven't replaced Asante. The running game changes too much from year to year, since Maroney has proven to be part of the solution and not the entire solution. The revamped D will have to play together for a while before it gels. And, of course, we all have our fingers and toes crossed that Tommy returns in his old form, or better.

But otherwise, I think that our "problems" are problems that 28 or so other teams would kill to have.
