What an awesome column. You need to be somewhere with more visibility than a Patriot fan website. Man, a few more columns like this and you should find yourself on SI or ESPN or the CBS/NBC sites. Really.
Ummm, I hate to be a weiner-head about this, but are you (Patsox23) really John ****rell? Because that column is SOOOOO different and so much better than your posts here. No offense, honest, but wow, that column was really good.
Thanks. Well, first of all, that's extremely flattering. I'm pretty proud to be at Patriots.com - I don't think of it, nor do I believe most do, as a fan site. It's the official site of an NFL team and, in my view, the most ahead-of-the-curve site in all of professional team sports. The first to stream press conferences back in the day, the first with live reports - video, audio, blogging - from training camp, first with a newspaper, radio show, now a studio show, just really top-notch.
As for the column compared to my posting here, I agree that far more thought - and far less temper-release - goes into my writing than into my posting, especially over the last few years. I have been a pretty lazy poster here, and I guess that's regrettable, 'though I do consider the two enterprises fairly distinct from each other. I used to put more effort into my posts here, and I think the writing was of higher quality and depth than it has been in recent years. Who knows, maybe my writing there will help my posting here. Hope so!
Thanks again for the feedback, and I want to remind everyone - and empasize my sincerity in reminding you - any story ideas, PLEASE send me a PM. I'm already partway into this week's column, but I can always use fresh perspectives!
