Chiefs hoping Cassel is the next Len Dawson

Good for them.

Keep hope alive. Mr. Dawson was quite a good one.

If you saw Dawson you're older than dirt...ME? I'm a Buck Buchanon fan

imo Cassel is not going to make any fans the first half of the season. Learning curve with a new system and they will have to take it slow with him. He could very well be a pro-bowler once he is comfortable with his new team. May take a few years though.

I hope not.
No offense, I liked what Matt did with and for the pats last year, but he is now the enemy ;)

Good luck Matt, just don't be too good..ahahaha

Wish we had a tight end like Fred Arbanas...continued to play at an All Pro level after being blinded in one eye.

I'm not saying Watson is a little delicate but...I think I heard him say "excuse me" to a cornerback while fighting for a ball in the end zone.

I hope Cassel does well in KC, and I hope to hell that we can avoid the whole "did we make the right trade?" thread.

Saw a comment from Todd Haley the other day and he said they were running a similar system with the exact same terminology which should bode well for Matt. Remember, the whole team is getting used to a new HC and coordinators. I have a feeling Matt will be ahead of the curve compared to his teamates. It's a matter of whether or not Pioli can assemble a quality offense around him and some semblance of a defense which has been missing in KC since before Herm... The rumor is they are waiting on a decision from RAC if he's up to coaching this season - if so he's their new DC.

As opposed to what? Not trading Cassel and having to pay him & Brady or thinking they should have gotten more than a 2nd round pick?

One interesting factoid from the article, which just goes to show how you how lucky we should consider ourselves:

Drafts have been futile. They picked Blackledge in 1983 over Jim Kelly and Dan Marino. They've drafted 8 quarterbacks in the past 25 years, and that list has produced just nine starts and zero victories.

Think about that for a second: in 25 years, quarterbacks drafted by the Chiefs have averaged one start and zero wins each (for the Chiefs, at least).

I hope Matt does great in KC, and only stumbles when he plays against us in the playoffs :D

Wow, what a horrendous track record of bad draft picks. KC's going to love this guy.

I think one of the more interesting aspects to the Cassel/Vrabel trade is thinking of them as a package deal.

By including Vrabel, Pioli is giving Cassel an incredible resource of a strong locker room presence, allowing them to both back up each other in enstilling "The Patriot Way" in KC.

I fully expect Pioli was very specific in wanting Vrabel in that role that could be so critical to Cassel's success - as well as the team.

I'm guessing Cassel wasn't expecting this about six months ago:

:cool:KC's rebuilding is about ready this year or next for KC to make a breakout into the quality teams in the League.

They have their LOT, Alberts, a good G in Waters, their prime DL, Dorsey, the excellent MLB, Johnson, a good CB, Flowers. Now they have a a QB, Cassel and a RB, LJ, and TE Gonzalez, and a prime time WR, Bowe. This team is NOT THAT FAR away!

Why else did Scott Pioli go there? He can analyze and size up the prospects to succeed. Brady and Cassel will re-join each other, on the same team, once again, in the the Pro-bowl. Why can't y'all?

Cassel is going to be a continued blossoming Star with that cast.

I think KC is on the rise...Oakland is as it has been...a mess....the Chargers are still tough and Denver is sort of in confusion with Cutler there not wishing to be..I would say that KC is in a great place now...
