The offense could be better than 2007

In 2007, the patriots had one of the best offenses in the history of the NFL. Once Brady is up to 100%, we could have an even better offense this year.

The defense had an easy job when the offense was putting up 30-40 points a game. No?

I'm not so sure. Brady and Moss are older, Gaff and Stallworth and their contributions are gone, TFB is coming off some injury that I read about, but most of all I think the surprise factor that allowed the Pats to blow out so many teams early 2007 will not be there.

I'm expecting a great O in 2009, just not 2007 great. And I'm fine with that.

I would be happy we are at 95% of what the offense did in 2007 and the defense is able to step up and make THAT crucial play if the offense fails in 2009.

You want a better Offense than 2007 than maybe we should get a wide out at 23 or 34....Heyward-Bey perhaps

and the defense. Personally, i think the upgraded D (yes im including what i hope will be another good draft on D) is what will help make this years offense great. Its about all 3 phases, and like Box pointed out, special teams needs to improve. Though, i think BB is already trying to improve the ST's....Lets not forget, we still have Ventrone. The guy can play every position

Me too, but I also said I'd be happy at 10-6 or 11-5 last year thinking it would win the AFC East. 12-4 SHOULD do it though. IMO, they will not have a better offense, but I do believe they'll have a better defense than 2007 and that will be all the difference.

The intangibles are a big factor here, though.

-Brady fired up after having missed a season
-Moss fired up because Brady's back
-Moss fired up knowing he doesn't have too many years left to get a ring
-Taylor fired up (like No. 28 in 2004) to get a ring
-Welker fired up because he's always fired up
-Watson fired up -- oh, well, you can't have everything.

I think it's very possible that 2007 team was the greatest offensive team ever assembled.

Reaching that height again, is highly unlikely.

I think the upcoming offense has huge potential, but it depends on several things.

It starts with Brady. I personally believe that he'll have enough time to prepare that he should not be that rusty for the season opener. I also think he's going to come back VERY hungry.

Moss' age won't be an issue this year. With Brady coming back, he'll be coming back hungry too. Depending on what the Pats do for a #3 WR, I wouldn't be surprised to see them put up 20+ touchdowns again.

I think the OL will come back with a mission. If they stay healthy, I think Brady will rarely hit the ground. This offense is going to protect Brady like never before.

We also have signed a good TE AND Fred Taylor. These two new threats should open up things for the WR's.

I think the Defense will be much improved this year. Their problem last year was injuries. Barring a huge injury bug like last year, and likely a vastly improved secondary, I believe the Defense will give the Offense more opportunities and time on the field than 07. There's a lot of young talent on the D this year that's coming back healthy, and a crapload of draft picks to sort it all out.

Injuries, injuries, injuries. If the team can stay relatively healthy this year, I expect the O to be sick. Maybe not 07 sick, but they have a shot to be. I won't guess at a record until preseason is almost over.

I think Donte Stallworth was vastly underated in what he brought to the O..

I think the running Game is going to be very good

I would like to see another O line man picked up..

The LB, needs to be adress, tBC is not the replacement for Vrabel.. Still feel moves need to be made..

I know one thing, Tom Brady will have a very live arm...

Give me a solid, top-10 offense and a defense that can get off the field on third down, and I'll be happy.

12-4 would be great, as long as they improve as the season goes along and get into the playoffs in peak form. :rocker:

with the addition of baker, it gives the pats the best 2 TE set they have had since graham left, so the need to replace evans is less........not to mention the fact that both taylor and maroney excel as lone setbacks.........maroney's worst success is running behind a fullback

The Pats were second in the NFL in time of possession in 2007. They dominated TOP in their first 2 playoff games and then lost the TOP battle to the Giants. The Super Bowl is remebered as the Giants dominating time of possession when in fact it was 30:30-29:30.

That may be true, but the 2007 Pats were unbalanced between the passing and running game, and it came back to hurt them towards the end of the season and especially in the SB.

The 2009 Pats offense probably won't put up as many points as 2007 or set passing and receiving TD records, but I think it will be more balanced and therefore ultimately better.
