sweet, he can still ball. he should be much better in our system where he won't have all the wear and tear from having to jam WR's evefry play.

Lets hope Springs can get it done with the patriots this season! If this is true!

In wk4 in our game against the Skins last year-lost in all the "TO is crying again but he was thrown 17 passes" hoopla was how Springs just manhandled him all game.

He may be injury-prone, but it's not like he's injury-prone every year. For example, after missing alot of games in '06, he only missed 1 in '07. He missed 7 games last year...well, you get the point. Plus the Skins' conditioning coaches BLOW. Doesn't Belichick have one of the best?

Re: Report:Springs to sign with pats

If this is true, it's good news. I'd love to see Leigh Bodden on this team, but this will at least allow us to be more physical on the line again.

I STAND CORRECTED. I honestly didn't think that we would sign any Defensive Backs in Free Agency.

Anything is better than O'Neil! :D

I like it but with our two young corners I think Springs will compliment them nicely. In 2007 I thought he was top 5 in the league and I think he will improve our defense right away. I agree he will eventually give up the spot to on of the young guys but he is a smart DB who I know BB will like.

Springs is getting up there in age and he's been nicked up the last few years but this is a defense where older but smarter defensive backs have been able to get by (see Smith, O-T-I-S). He's a physical guy and used to be one of the best in the league. Not a bad signing at all, and definitely provides insurance in case Wheatley isn't any good.

I don't think he's a starting CB any more, but a good player to have on 3rd and longs.

Its a great signing .. he brings height and experience to the CB position and with Wheatley and Wilhite hopefully coming on nicely some competition for Hobbs

I like it .. now if only we get a decent safety

And an OLB

:p

Without knowing the dollars comitted, I'd love to see Bodden added on top of Springs. Springs played some safety for the Skins last year, and that kind of versatility, with the Pats system, would mean Hobbs, Bodden, and Springs on the field together for a good chunk of the time. Again, I'm not sure what the dollars are, and whether or not Bodden's cost is too rich for our cap.
