What do you think of bringing in Toomer? I think he still has a lot left in the tank. He is 34 but a lot younger than Galloway. He could be a very good number 2.

I think he is the best bet for us personally. Can work the middle of the field and the sidelines... has good hands... knows how to get open... and is a consummate professional (by most accounts).

Not to mention he could probably be had for the vet minimum. I actually wouldn’t mind them brining in both of these guys at the minimum.

Yeah, but chances are a mid round WR pick is not going to be able to come in and contribute as a bonafide third option in their first season. Im all for grooming a draft pick, but we need a vet to fill the void Gaff left in the meantime.

I wathced a # of Giants games last year and Toomer is SLOOOOOW now he cant get any seperation, thats not a problem Joey Galloway has.

I don't think it matters. I think we need to get better at WR, which means an upgrade at #3 and maybe even #4.

I don't know how much he has left in the tank. He was kind of invisible last year in New York, and the two years before that he wasn't half the receiver he had been in his 20s. Joey Galloway is some sort of workout freak who keeps himself in tip-top shape at 37. I think Toomer's slowed down a lot. That said, you could do a lot worse for the #3, and I think he'd be as good as Gaffney if not better.

Sure, the idea is sound in a vacuum, but the Patriots don't seem to like going into the draft with any holes. Sure, there are often plenty of areas that need improvement, but right now we don't have a #3 WR, and BB isn't going to depend on the right guy being available at his picks to fill that gap.

If we get Toomer (or another vet) in for cheap, you can still pick up a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round and let him compete with the vet for playing time. But, if your picks come up and there's no one there that thrills you, you're no longer handcuffed by the fact that you simply don't have enough bodies for your WR roster.

Alot of these people want "to get younger and faster," on both sides of the ball, which sounds great. But dosen't happen overnight. We are and will continue to get younger and faster in many positions. But in order to be good, no EXCELLENT, at a level that we all expect, we still will need some veteran leadership. When a player hits a certain age, you see if he can still play, you don't automatically throw him in a bin that says "too old"
