After leaving Green Bay without a contract, free agent DB Mike Adams is en route to New England.

Cleveland free agent safety Mike Adams concluded what his agent said was a "great" visit and will now head to New England for a visit with the Patriots.

Agent Peter Schaeffer wouldn't say whether the Packers made an offer. Adams is believed to be the first player to come in for a visit to the Packers.

It remains to be seen how hard the Packers pursue him. It's not a need position. But the fact he's visiting the Patriots means there's interest elsewhere and they might have to act accordingly if they want him.

The Patriots recently re-signed veteran safety James Sanders to a three-year, $9 million deal. They probably would be looking at Adams as a backup and special teams player.

Never even heard of him, to be honest.

He has a show on WEEI, right after The Big Show. He HATES Manny Ramirez and smokes a lot of pot, IIRC. :biggrin2:.

He kills monkeys too.

Scouting report on this guys is that he is tough, hard nosed, high energy, aggressive competitor who loves to mix it up. Plays downhill and better in the box despite his size (5-11, 195). Has some limitations in coverage. Very good backup with previous starting experience and solid ST player. Loves the game. Seems like a Patriot player.

SWEET ! Mike Adams ! Now all my secondary fears are put to rest ! Yes !

Hopefully they get him signed ASAP. Got to go - booking my rooms for Superbowl.

There is plenty of room for JAGs at every backup position. Seems like a pretty decent cheap money signing (if he signs). In between the JAGs and draft picks only about 50% will make the team, and most will be lucky to see anything other than special teams action.

He's not slow. Ran his 40's in 4.43 and 4.38 at his Pro Day back in 2004. Obviously the Pats were aware of him then as they drafted SS Guss Scott and FS Dexter Reid in that draft.

Listen, if you're saying that Mike Adams isn't the next Pro Bowler to come to Foxboro to show off his skilz, then you must be on crack.

The only NFLer I suspect will have more of a breakout year in 09 is Dante, the great Lion warrior.

In closing, I've had quite about enough of all this Mike Adams bashing. When his bone-jarring hits in the middle of the field create game changing turnovers, we'll see who's laughing... we'll see...

I hope you don't spend a lot of time coming up with these fakeposts.

I sense more Mike Adams bashing... not liking...

To say that he could only perform on ST is to insult the future HoFer !

Thanks BPF! I'm in the "who is this guy" group but it's interesting we're bringing him in after signing Sanders. If he has a good showing here the depth would be nice to have, that's for sure.

Rodney's status? Hmm.

I'd started a thread on this visit before seeing this one, but check some of the comments from the GB fans:eek:

Adams' visit over and now he'll go to New England - JSOnline

From the scouting report he sounds like a poor man's Rodney Harrison. For cheap $$$ he would make a good backup and ST guy.

I can appreciate your hunger for a bigger name DB bro, but every player we look at isn't necessary a starter, or our 'answer' to the DB problem. We need depth, special teams players, and players to beat on and dump in camp. Come on now, you have to be getting somewhat used to what it means to be a Pats fan when FA comes rolling around. Be patient;)
