Michael Holley says that Pats and Browns are in hot pursuit of Ray Lewis

Is Lewis is better than Vrabel of course.. But how much money is he going to cost.. And his play has definitely fallen..

Andto the critics saying he's on record of not wanting to play in a 3-4.. He played in a 3-4 for the past few years..

To me Holley has become static.. Ever since M. Smith went to ESPN, holley seems to be out of the loop. More times than not, He looks in one direction while the pats go in a different direction..

Maybe BB can coordinate travel plans so that he can personally pickup both Lewis and Taylor at the airport at the same time. That way the 3 of them can talk shop and strategy on the way to the burger joint. ;)

No thanks. Lewis has lost a step, and the $7-8 million per it would probably take, is better spent elsewhere.

Okay...why do you need to have those pictures on your signature? Killing me...she is H-O-T...hot hot hot...who is it?

why do people ask for a link when the original poster said he heard it on the radio????

Depends on the money. Lewis can still play at a very high level.

But it's pretty safe to say that if we added Lewis to the mix inside with Mayo (and possibly Taylor) good lord that would be a ferocious front 7.

:agree: if he isn't wanting a whole lot it could be a great pickup for us.

I can't see Ray Ray with the Pats. His ego is a little to big for the team.....He likes to dance, he likes to be introduced to the crowd, he likes to showboat after making a tackle, but giving up the 1st down......No thanks, and I would bet his price is too high.

I thought Dallas was interested......

Rumor probably started by Ray Lewis (or his agent), who seems determined to create the illusion of interest where none exists.

I just don't see it. We don't need another 35 year old LB. Lewis doesn't like to do the kind of dirty work that we like to see our LB's do. And Lewis wants a bigger contract than he is worth. I would be shocked.

yeah,i remember a fewyrs ago he was complaining that men upfront were not taking up blocks so he could run free to the QB,something which BB despised openly once generally about players complaining of getting double teamed or not having a 'free' run. more i see ray lewis and jason taylor being mentioned ,more i wonder how bad was vrabel. not much IMO.

holley did say the pats were gong to trade down to 10 and pick mayo last year too.

Funny--I posted the pros of going after Lewis in the "why so much love for JP" thread and got flamed for it (thanks mogamezdog);)

There would be financial benefits of Lewis vs. going after Peppers, who just wants too much. We all know Ray acts like an ass sometimes, but you cannot dispute his will to play hurt, or his fire that he brings to the field every wk. Not to mention his overall talent. I know he's getting older, but you cannot judge every player by the exact same age standards--some can play another couple, few yrs.

Thinking about Ray Lewis and Mayo on the inside, coupled w/ AD and (Woods, Crable, Draft Pick) on the outside sounds pretty good to me. I'm sure he'd pick up the system just as quick, in all actuality, he'd probably wear the green dot and relay the plays too. Just throwing out the positives, we could do ALOT worse than Ray Lewis. I imagine he'd chill a little with the attention, and certainly has the ability to be quite a team player.

Depending on the price, OF COURSE we should pursue Ray Lewis. Signing him (or Jason Taylor) and getting younger at LB are not mutually exclusive.

People comparing him to Vrabel - come on, get real. Lewis is the superior player and showed last year that he had/has more in the tank than Vrabel does. Is it even close?

whatever BB's $$ value is for that position, that is the range Lewis or whomever falls into.

Don't mess with what works people...

Maybe it's already been said but part of me thinks that BB is setting up a smokescreen and driving up the price for the Ravens & Browns so they can't pay Suggs and the Pats can.

Wishful thinking I guess...

Not wishful thinking, you're right.

The last thing Belichick wants is to have a character like Lewis, so set in his ways, in the middle of his defense, screwing everything up. He would be the anti-Vrabel in more ways than one, not just athletically.

Belichick is jacking up the price for Lewis, AND bringing the price of other FAs down by even hinting at wanting Lewis.

Can he play OLB and shut his mouth?

In the end, he will get over his ego and resign with the Ravens at a low price.
