Kevin Acee, of The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports a league source said the San Diego Chargers will put CB Antonio Cromartie on the trading block if they are able to sign free-agent CB Drayton Florence (Jaguars).

Okay I admit he stunk last year but this is a big WTF to me.

Florence is not anything better.

Something or someone is smoking something, and I'm thinking it was Cromartie.

Buyer beware on this one.

Antonio Cromartie Played Season With A Broken Hip - San Diego Chargers, NFL

Apparently Cromartie had a busted hip in 2008. IF his health checks out, I wouldn't be averse to offering a 2nd round pick for him. The Chargers look like they are in rebuilding mode or something.

Looks like the Chargers were unhappy with his performance. I still find it mysterious that he drops off so suddenly after an outstanding 2007 campaign.

I got it! Cromartie and LT to the Panthers for Peppers.

One I would not like to see.

I am just throwing it out there, Peppers has been linked to just about every trade imagineable.

Something smells here. Cromartie was all-world in 2007. His poor 2008 may partially be due to injury, and partially due to lack of SD's pass rush with Merriman being out, but it's absolutely shocking that he could go form being considered one of the top CBs in football to on the trading block in one season. It makes me wonder if there is some serious issue (medical or personal) with him.

LT is washed up, Cromartie's health status is questionable and Peppers is a 17.3M cap hit.

Meanwhile the Chargers only have 18M of cap space available.

That would be an awful tight cap fit.

Due investigation has to be done before exploring a trade for Cromartie. But if he checks out healthy and sane, he would be a great pickup. I've never heard of him having TO mental instabilities so... in BB we trust.

Cromartie does have Antoine Cason behind him and the Chargers also have Jammer. One of them will have to go sometime, why not trade the one who would get the most in return?

Honestly I thought in 2007 he was being waaay overrated based almost entirely on some pretty spectacular highlight reel interceptions. Better than what we've got for sure, but I'd personally be very wary.

Hmmmmm, this one has me scratching my head. If true, I have to wonder is Cromartie is somehow damaged goods?

But Peppers said there is only 1 AFC team he will go to!! Shefter claims that AFC team is the Patriots.

I'm with all of the head-scratchers....BUT...if homework is done and all is clean....I'm a big fan of this guy. Big fan.

Other than maximizing value. Like someone else said, Cason is behind him and they have Jammer.

The CB/DB free agent prospects are thin so maybe the chargers think they can get something for him.

Wow. If he checks out healthy, nobody here would want Antonio Cromartie? Seriously?

Chargers want another draft pick without their second.

How the hell does someone play an entire season with a broken hip? That doesn't sound like something that could even be possible. Even if he did it, that's still a giant red-flag, because he could have permanently wrecked his body doing that.

Cromartie injured his hip, and for a CB, you need good hips, swivel hips is a CB bread and butter. So unless he fully recovers from his hip injury, I think he is damaged goods, and the chargers want to unload him. I bet he didnt fully recover, or cant fully recover from his hip injury, that is why the chargers want to trade him.

Let's not forget that a lot of people said Cromartie was better than his cousin Rodgers-Cromartie going into that draft. And Rodgers-Cromartie just started in the Superbowl and looked like a physical freak.

If you had offered a 2nd round pick for Cromartie in 2007 people would have said you were crazy. But what if you could get the 'better' Cromartie in 2009 for a 2nd? Hmmmm.

Obviously you need to check his health out first. But Cromartie's actual health is all just speculation now.
