He might be, bar none, the safest player in the draft. I see him more like a Brian Dawkins, but if he turns out to be Lott, I wouldn't complain.

picked up profootball draft book. not bad... the way we see it on Chung " A good functional football player who should be able to contribute readily, chung could be most effective in the box. enough foot quickness and range to play off the hashes and is the type of player coaches feel comfortable having as a last line of defense but he is more suited inside."

Barwin+Chung = A successful first day for the Pats. I'm glad that Barwin has not been hyped too much yet, but I think he will get more as draft day approaches.

Why the love affair for Chung? While he did have 92 tackles last year, he only had 6 passes defended and 1 interception.

We need a PLAYMAKER in the secondary.

In the third maybe even 4th round we could get a guy like Hamlin who hasmadeplays. He had 110 tackles, 10 passes defended, 6 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. And he did this playing in the ACC, not that bad a conference.

While I am concerned about his speed and previous foot injuries, he seems worth the gamble.

Chung isn't a ballhawk but his real value and strengths lie elsewhere. He'd earn his keep with his strong ST skills, as he works his way into the sub-packages. He's an extremely aggressive player w/ exc. tackling ability -- something the secondary could use. Picks and passes defended are about opportunities to make a play on the ball. Who knows how often passes were within his reach this past season -- I haven't a clue. I do know he was used at different positions as the rover back -- (CB, Strong Safety, Free Safety, and LB) which may have affected his stats. That's a lot different than a CB compiling stats in one-on-one matchups vs WRs for a whole season. With Chung -- it's about the player and his intangibles -- not his numbers.

We may also get that playmaker from the CB position.

So you want to spenda high draft pick on a ST player/Backup SS?
