I know that Mariotti is a tool, but anyone who thinks that this was a good trade should read this. He thinks that BB should be investigated.

Presumably because a pulled pork sandwich wasn't available from Arthur Bryant's barbecue joint, the New England Patriots settled for a mere second-round draft pick in a blockbuster trade with Kansas City. Sorry, but something smells here, and it's not the beans and potato salad. In fact, I'm interrupting an offseason weekend at the NFL offices to make an announcement:

"Paging Roger Goodell, Roger Goodell! Bill Belichick is at it again!''

The bored idle what have you done for me today press is at it again.. Jay Mariotti is just another hysterical media dude...

this article is not even worth opening. I have much better things to do with my time then read crap like this. Anyone who thinks BB would sell himself or his team short to help out a freind is a complete moron. Its sad that idiots like Mariotti have the ability to influence others.

Yeah, because Belichick is all about screwing over the Pats to help out a friend.

I refuse to click on the link, but someone please tell me what supposed rule did BB break this time? For trading with a team that they had every right to trade with. Mariotti is nothing but a sawed-off shrimp with a serious case of "little man's" disease.

This reminds me of the wrongful borges threads I click on and later want to kick myself as I know my clicking has led to credibility of the author... all they know is that they have another reader.

The column makes no sense. He alleges impropriety but can't even specify it and backs it up with nothing.

I feel dumber for having read that

:spygate:

And people wonder why I wanted to be a sports columnist: because you get to be wrong and it doesn't matter. Heck, it's encouraged.

No wonder BB looks like he's going in for a colonoscopy every time he has to talk to these asshats. Too bad BB and Kraft couldn't sue all these clowns for slander somehow.

PS-Thank you.

This article = :deadhorse:

We get it, Jay. You don't like BB and are jealous of Tom Brady (Jay blames Gisele for the AFCCG, the SB, Spygate, and his knee getting blown out). But when most of the comments on your article , made by sports fans who mostly HATE the Patriots, disagree, it's time to hang it up and move on to another topic.

Jay, take this advice:

His premise (that BB did something wrong is ridiculous) but the fact that the trade is so one sided that is warranted this article was my point.

Investigate what again?

So we're not even allowed to cheat our OWN team?

This is why it makes me angry that the differently able/mentally challenged sect of our society still struggle to find work when these ******s get serious coin to publish the first thing that comes into their heads.

Mariotti should call for someone to investigate his butthole and see if his brain is in there.

It's more tongue in cheek about asking for an investigation. The article (after the obligatory spygate reference) basically says that BB traded Cassel to Pioli for a song for a "thank you" for all their success together. Doofus.

It kind of makes me want to watch the 4 letter network at a certian time to see what he has to say and see if he gets ripped or if he backs down

So say Belichick did give the Chiefs a sweetheart deal for Cassel to thank Pioli. Who did it hurt? The team that git hurt the most is the Patriots. If the Pats left a mid to high first round pick and possibly another pick or two on the table just to take care of Pioli, they are stupid. But the league shouldn't be involved in it. I believe if a team is stupid enough to take less value for a player in a trade to help out their friend, they have been punished enough.

There is no NFL rule stating that a team must trade a player to the team that offers the best deal. There is no rule that says a team cannot decide that they will only trade to a certain team. I don't think it is the case here, but if it was the Pats did nothing wrong.

He references Spygate, but Spygate was all about helping the Pats win. This allegation is all about the Pats trying to help the Chiefs win. If Cassel makes KC a legitimate Super Bowl contender, it hurts the Patriots. It makes no sense that the Pats would help out Pioli.

Not gonna read it but I still hate the deal no way schaub is worth 2 #2's and we only get one. Sorry that is the most comparable deal to me and getting only one pickup is semi unacceptable

caught Mortenson on ESPN last night and he seemed to agree. He claimed that the Pats turned down the #12 first round pick from Denver for Cassel and hinted there was something inappropriate going on here.

Did Al Davis get in trouble for sending us Moss on the cheap.

Just more brah, brah, brah.

On ESPN, "I am too dumb to figure out what BB is thinking" = "there is something inappropriate going on here."
