...has been one shot to the gut after another.

First the team goes perfect the entire 07 season only to lose in shocking and dissapointing fashion in the Superbowl. It was a tough pill to swallow but we muddle through it with the help of three championships in recent memories.

So, we dust ourselves off confident that we still have the best team in the league and look for redemption in 08. Afterall we have Brady...or at least we did for not even a half a game. Another disapointment, but whatever, these things happen.

However, suddenly a new star emerges and hope springs anew. Cassel comes into his own and theam is on a roll. They begin to look like the team that nobody wants to face in the playoffs and go a very good 11-5. But despite all that, they still miss the playoffs on a tiebreaker and have to sit and home and watch a bunch of good but not great teams battle it out for the superbowl, all the time thinking what could have been.

But its not all a total loss, we still come out of the season with Cassel. At the least a great contingency plan in case Brady's recovery is questionable, at best a highly valuable bargaining chip that will allow the Patriots to restock their aging stable of players. Afterall, history has shown QBs to be the most valuable of players and even in recent years average QBs have brought it a good cache of picks. So what to get for him? A second round pick...well a second round pick after we through in Vrabel as well.

So, now people are saying to have faith. This trade allows the team to be major players in FA! Yeah right. I'm not building this up for another disappointment. This has been a difficult thirteen months, not that they couldn't have been worse. They could have been much worse. But evertime it seems like something great is going to happen, it just seems like we have the rug taken out from underneath us. Oh well.

wow, youre a big baby. be happy, we have an amazing franchise

Well said. I couldn't agree more. But then again, I'm spoiled these days. Compared to the days when our QB's named Tommy (Hodson) and Matt (Cavanaugh) garnered snickers from fans of other teams instead of envy, these last thirteen months feel like heaven.

you're a pathetic excuse of a Pats fan.

you're welcome to find another favotite team. We are in great position to compete next season and years down the road.

I can see what you're saying, but you also have to look at the positives--just like in life.

Like the other guys said, we are and have been for a while now, --spoiled!

Lots of good has come from the team still in 13 months, we proved all the haters wrong by going 11-5 and being a wk.17 playoff contender.

With 6-7 picks in the top 100 (dont know abt Samuel comp.) we will have a chance to rebuild a little on D, and now we can be more active in free agency too.

Cassel was a 7, we went 11-5 and traded him for a real high 2, so we win again.

keep your head up and look forward to a kick-ass yr coming up!!

Sure the Pats are in great position to compete next season and down the road. The OP never said we weren't. Don't dump on him for expressing what many of us feel. Or are you suggesting that no true Pats fans feel like we got less than he should have considering the assets we gave up?

And you lack basic reading comprehension. I have no idea what point of mine you are trying to counter but you have failed. The point isn't woe is us and we suck. It is that just when it looks like something great is going to happen, it turns the wrong way. Sorry I don't delude myself into thinking he crap sandwich I just had to eat was chicken salad. Disappointment is part of sports. I get that. Apparently you don't and have to pull the wool over your own eyes to come to terms with something wrong.

Why build it up to be a disappointment, when you've already declared yourself as disappointed?

The OP expressed we've had a series of bad breaks the last 13 months, beginning with the SB loss. There have been some positives mixed in, but I understand the feeling of always wanting more. He just vented a little bit; it doesn't make him a bandwagoner or someone who doesn't "deserve" to be a Pats fan. Slow down on the judging of people because of how the feel today. Many are disappointed and they are certainly entitled to that opinion.

as said best in "The life of Brian:"

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistle]

Life's a piece of ****,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistle]

Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]

Repeat to fade...

Why build it up to be a disappointment, when you've already declared yourself as disappointed?

Because that is part of being a sports fan. You get over it and move onto next year. However, I am still not buying this justification that they did this deal to free up money for some big FA spending spree. In this case, I'll wait to be pleasantly suprised.
