is $128,884,466. The 2009 cap is $127,050,000. The Patriots' cap was increased by $1,834,466. I had been projecting that it would increase by about $3.5 million. More players must have reached more NLTBE incentives than I thought.

So is this from your page the closest estimate of the cap space given what you know now, at this time?

So I have the Pats under their adjusted cap by about $18.3 million.

And that does not have the signing of TE Baker?

Yes. I am still waiting to find how much the salaries of Watson,Wilfork, Mankins, Hobbs, Kaczur, LeKevin Smith, David Thomas, O'Callaghan were increased by earned escalators.

Miguel, I just looked at your salary cap page and it appears that most of contracts for the players on this team are up after this season.
The Patriots have A LOT of work to do, IMO. Do you think that there might be more trades in the future?

Baker's deal is reportedly for 5 yrs and $14 mil. Is that the figures you have Miguel?

30 of the current 49 but the Pats will probably have 12 draft picks in addition to whatever other free agents they decide to bring in so that number won't look quite as danting. With the uncertainty with the cba, I think teams need to stockpile draft picks. I think you will find the Pats ahead of the game once again in that dept. In addition they will probably work out extensions with Wilfork and Mankins asap and possibly Seymour. I read somewhere that the Wilfork talks already started.

Seymour will be very difficult to extend. I'm sure he envisions

himself as the best defensive lineman in the NFL and will demand

Haynesworth money.

I have not seen any numbers. What is your source?? I like it to have it for my documentation.

Yup, I corrected it as you posted. I don't know why I think of him as Carter.

Have you been watching alot of Wonder Woman re-runs? Or maybe your mistaking him for the gay guy on Spin City? I'm sure you're not confusing him with that old peanut-farmer from Georgia, unless you've been pounding some BillyBeer lately.

Was watching NFL live last night and Clayton reported it. I'll check to see if I can find it on ESPN.com.

Before the draft. No.

There may be some right before the 1st regular season game.

Miguel, for someone that half understands the cap and half doesn't :D

If we re-signed the 3 most crucial ones, which are Wilfork, Mankins and Gostkowski in my opinion, how much of the available cap room would this take up?

Lets say they all got top 5 for their position money, how much cap room would be left before draftees were signed?

Thanks :)

Being that O'Callaghan was on the IR, do you think that he reached any escalators?

Its really an unanswerable question at this point in time. And its unanswerable because teams can do so many different things with contracts. Whether it be front-loading or back-loading.

He could have reached them in 2005, 2006, or 2007

Five years, $14.4 million, including a $1.5 million signing bonus. There's a $1.2 million option bonus in 2011 and $100,000 workout bonuses each season. His base salaries are $1.6 million, $2.0 million, $2.1 million, $2.6 million and $2.9 million.

Miguel,

Approximately how much cap room will be used up by rookies, Player 52, Player 53, the Practice Squad, replacing a couple of players on IR during camp, and an injury reserve to replace players during the season.

I seem to recall that we used to allocate about $6M for that purpose, but costs have gone up, and we have more high draft choices this year.
