We need a new Vrabel

Hmm do the Pats wait to take Barwin with pick 34 now? Or do they preemptively take him with pick 23 and take the best available DB at pick 34?

I was just thinking the same thing. One thing is for sure in my mind, as deep as this draft is there isn't one guy not named Curry that I would trade up for. I hope we hold on to all our picks.

As po'd as many people are about the compensation for Cassel {I'm a little dissapointed we didn't get a 2 next year as well} we now have the ability to get a Linebacker, a safety and a Cb. All three picks could equate to 1st rounders if BB does a masterful job.

It seems many people on the board have the same idea. They seem to forget that our defense got a lot better in 2007 after we moved Adalius to OLB and put Seau at every down ILB. He was our best pass rusher in the second half of the season. I'd rather leave him there. Especially with Vrabel gone. It's a moot point now, given that the trade was for the 2nd rounder, but our best lineup would have been Thomas, Bruschi, Mayo, Woods...with Guyton backing up the ILBs and Curry backing up the OLBs.

Or did the defense improve because Seymour got healthier and Thomas was smart enough to play off him outside shoulder?

Barwin will be there at #58.

At #34 think UNGER!!!!!!!!

If BB were high on Delmas and Barwin, whom would you take at 23 and whom would you chance being available at 34?

I have doubts that Barwin will last to 34, no less 58.
What is the love affair with Unger?
There are a lot of good G/C prospects that are slated to be available in round 2.
Unger's hardly the only option.

I'd draft OLB and Safety ahead of G/C. And with 3 2nd round picks, the Pats can still take a good G/C in the 2nd round if they feel the need to do so.

The thing with Unger is versatility. BB loves versatility. He can play all five positions on the OL. He was all PAC 10 TACKLE as a sophomore before moving inside. He is really good at pulling and leading.

Unger, Delmas and Barwin would make a good 2nd round. Although I still think BB tries to turn one of the second rounders into a 2010 first.

I think we trade one of the 2's and swap our 1 to move up....I think Bill wants one of those DE who project to be OLB[that kid from Texas]

I think... Max Unger with the first. Need to protect Brady and that knee.

Top 2nd I would take Barwin

Followed by a TE (*just kidding*) CB Smith from Utah
