Springs drew immediate interest from New England and New Orleans, according to league sources, and took the move in stride, texting a reporter during Haynesworth's press conference, "Can you ask Haynesworth to buy my house?"

Maybe we're sending a message to Leigh Bodden that he's not the only option in town.

I would much rather have Bodden if at all reasonable than a 33 year old Springs. Bodden's agent reported that things went "very well" with the Pats, so my guess is that there's strong mutual interest, just disagreement about the $$. If the Pats come up with some alternatives and no one throws big money at Bodden, I think he will come back to the table in a day or two.

The 33 year old player is much more apt to accept what the Patriots

can offer. The Patriots and Bodden might be 4 million dollars per year apart.

I think it was this year. But, I remember a game where they put him on TO. Jammed him at line of scrimmage all day. Beat the Cowboys in Dallas. I'd like to see us get back to a little more press coverage. And, he might allow us to do that.

I wonder with the new found cap space, maybe we can get Springs AND Bodden

Why do we need Springs? I would much rather see us bring in a draft pick. A Smith of Wake or Burnett of UCF on day 2.

oh, i'm sure we will--but alot of times it takes a yr or 2 for them to start to reach potential

so, even though we'll probably take a couple-few DB's overall in the draft, we still need to bring in a Bodden, or a Springs, or a McFadden

Maybe yesterday they told Boddens agent to come back tommorow......Today.

FYI-Jerry Jones is showing interest in him down here in VR. We just traded Anthony Henry(whom we were going to cut anyways) to Detroit for Jon Kitna. So all of a sudden, again, with Pacman and now Henry gone(and SS Roy likely on his way out), DB is all of a sudden a glaring weakness on our team.

Why on earth are we going after 34 year old CB? I thought we were going to build a team with some youth and speed.. Springs brings neither..

after the 02-03 season we upgraded our speed and punch up the middle.. I think we need to go that route again.. Springs does little for me.. And i'm pretty sure he has nothing left in the tank.

He's obviously a depth option, or the backup plan to bodden not working.

If recent history has shown us anything, it's that BB believes that average, run of the mill CBs can succeed if a consistent pass rush is present. He believes in paying and drafting D-linemen ahead of corners at every turn. A 34 year old Springs who can be had for relatively light dough is right up his alley.

Bodden likely wants the going rate, app. $ 7 mill/per. If so, no thanks. Springs, if at reasonable money, would be a solid addition on the short term.

This DB cost only increases the value of drafting DB's and controlling them via the rookie contract.

Springs apparently on his way to visit Dallas for a look.

Pats may sign both Springs and Bodden

Free agent CB Shawn Springs will visit the Patriots Sunday.

Now that they've unloaded Matt Cassel's cap number, it's time to spend it. The Patriots couldn't complete a deal with Leigh Bodden during his visit, but they are still talking. It wouldn't shock us if the Patriots sign both.

sounds good to me; solid benefit from the cassel/ vrabel trade

**Springs I don't get - dude could be Deltha O'Neil's grandfather... ;)
Bodden is probably good, but we won't pay him top corner money, even with the cap room.

But maybe we're still thinking "vet-cough-jag" corners are the way to go. But that pass rush better get it's sh!t together.

This bit of the article should have been included in the post, dude...

there apparently was some talk of having the 6-foot, 207 pounder play some safety

+1

Springs has not been good for a couple of years.. Enough of this grandfather crap in the secondary.. Harrison was a step slower last year, God knows how slow he is now..
