Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

Gaffney comments on leaving Patriots - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com

"I loved New England and being a Patriot. The fans up there are great and it's just a great place to be. I'll always have love for New England but the unfortunate part of the NFL is that it's a business and I had to go; it was too good of an opportunity for me and my family to pass up. But I will always love the Patriots organization and fans for taking me in and treating me like family. Maybe one day something will work out where I can be a Patriot again."

It's certainly refreshing to see players leave the right way.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

We picked him up off the steets and saved his financial future and his career. TB tends to make people lots of money as we know, ask any of the wideouts that have left for greener pastures. For that, Jabs's is humble and he's grateful. Jabs is a great guy and he'll definately be missed. He's had some big catches for us in 2.5 years.

I'm sorry to see him go, Colts game muff and all. He has made some wonderful catches and, clearly, he's a class guy.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

He made some great catches, like the indy afc championship game, or the one against miami where he stole it away from the defender.. He is going to be missed...

Without that fingertip catch in the endzone in Baltimore, 15-1.

Loved the guy and wish him well, just never against the Patriots.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

For a guy the Pats picked up off the streets, he turned out to be pretty valuable. He was great in the '06 playoffs, and had 2 good seasons as the 3rd/4th receiver. He made his fair share of big plays for the Pats. I'll miss him.

Ya, I think BB got the most out of his ability and Gaff was able to make some money. It will be interesting to see how his career goes from here. He's probably the 4th reciver on the team right now but knowing the offense should give him a jump.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

The miami catch was amazing and so was the balitmore one. The indy miss sucked but you can't catch them all. I am glad that he came to Denver (better here than anywhere else) so I can still watch him play every week.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

I appreciate his effort, it was a good 2 1/2 years while he was with us. Didn't we pick him up during the 06 season?

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

He was solid for us, wish him all the best. Normally you expect a WR production to go down when they leave this team but with JM and the pass attack they have in Denver I think he'll put up the same kind of #'s.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

ehhh...maybe his replacement will be able to catch the ball in the rain.

Re: Gaffney: "I loved New England and being a Patriot"

he was great in 06 postseason, the baltimore 07 catch, etc -- but last year's drops were pretty memorable

also remember when he first signed, he talked about how his wife had a crush on brady :)

Please, please don't tell me Reche is coming back now :p

(PS, I actually loved that guy too, as well as Jabar... there's just something about guys that go out and give it their all, even when they're not "elite", and then say good things on the way out the door.)

Welp, guess we've cleared out room for Marvin Harrison now.

KIDDINGGGGG

Mega-Speculation/Rumor on another WR trade thread

Schefter and Mort both think no deal for Jackson

they make a good points about not doing it, since he is one screw up for getting a year ban, but this does not make sense why this has happened this year..

I wouldn't want tarvaris jackson anyway

Re: Shefter and Mort both think no deal for Jackson

Right it makes no sense. You get a 3d for Moss, and then turn around and trade, what, 2 2's for half a year of VJAX. No thanks. The thing that makes the most sense is to fill the Moss void with Green/Jones/Baldwin in the draft.

Re: Shefter and Mort both think no deal for Jackson

Mort?

So this means its definitely going to happen.

Re: Shefter and Mort both think no deal for Jackson

Sounds like Moss was turning into a malcontent.
Why would we want to replace him with another one like Jackson, anyways?
It's all good guys. The Patriots will survive this.

Get on the phone to Cincy about Ochocinco.
