That was my first thought with the FA activity. It's easy to look like you "don't draft for need" when you don't have any needs. A couple of safeties, a WR and Russ Hochstein probably gets you there.

And assuming Vrabel passes his physical, OLB. Although it will be interesting to see what the Pats get back. In my less naive moments, I think maybe it's with a flip of 1st rounders and they draft Curry...but I don't think that's very likely. I'm cautiously optimistic about Peppers. If he's renegotiated a long-term deal with NE, I'd be ecstatic. It has to be slightly erotic for Belichick to have a weapon like that at his disposal.

Yeah I guess back up everything gives you some leverage. But bringing back Hochstein could save a roster spot for a long snapper or at least we have an emergency guy in case Paxtons replacement isnt as good.

Does TBC still have potential? I'd be shocked if he made much of a contribution outside of special teams this year (if he makes the team). I think we've already seen the max potential for Mr. Banta Cain.

You don't like James Sanders? Who knew. Next, you'll be quoting me James Casey's stats and all the positions he played in one game, and that Belichick loves versatility.

BB is so far ahead of the rest of the league in so many ways, it's scary. This is another one - he's by far the best I've ever seen at making low-cost moves to plug holes so that he can work from a position of strength instead of need. Fred Taylor, Chris Baker and Leigh Bodden would be a tremendous coup. Add at least one S and one WR (including potential resignings) and we would have no gaping holes. The rest of the league goes out and throws ridiculous contracts around (Dominique Foxworth at $7M/year for 4 years, from one of the more respected GMs in the business) and our FO just keep finding cost-effective ways to keep our time competitive.

Eggs-actly, Batman. On draft weekend of '06 I remember reading that both DT & Garrett Mills served as their teams' LS, then as backup LS once each became starters on Offense. I also remember thinking, could this be the end of our Pro-Bowl-caliber, but one-dimensional LS Lonie?

I ass-ume that BB knows what he's doing, when he allows the only LS he has ever had here to sign elsewhere, for what really amounts to a mere pittance in the grand scheme of a $127M payroll.
