Don't be. When is the last time you saw a bad long snap in an NFL game that wasn't made by James Harrison? I agree, a competent one is important, but I'm confident the Pats will find one. Heck, they dug up some guy who was HS teaching one of the SB seasons.

Surprised Gaffney left. Though no way the Pats were giving him 4-years. Guess this adds WR to the list of needs.

Would love to see Michael Clayton come on board ...

I'm not surprised. He's familiar with the offense that McDaniels runs, and I've read rumblings (patriotsinsiders) that the Pats were not going to bring him back.

That doesn't seem terribly excessive for Gaffney. I thought that 4 years at $8M would be fair; the extra $500K/year doesn't seem that much. I hope we have some other options in mind.

Thanks to Gaffney for some good years. We good more from him than anyone expected when he came here.

He obviously wanted to be reunited with Chad Jackson.

With Stokley, Royal and Marshall there, this is a very interesting signing. I'd say questionable if I didn't think he was being brought in to help the others learn the system. As it is, I wonder if one of those others is out the door soon.

I like it. I know he sucked the meat missle last year, but Carolina's offense was All Steve Smith All The Time.

I do worry about his injuries, however. He's got to prove he can stay healthy.



Good luck to Gaffney, who I always appreciated on this team. Hopefully he can beat out the great Chad Jackson on the depth chart.

Still, he was familiar with offense. One plus about a new No. 3 receiver, we will have Brady back. But 4 years, $10 million doesn't seem like a whole lot. I thought we would have been able to come close to that.

Jackson won't amount to much because he is playing for Josh again. Remember he needed a real offensive genius to see his true talents and use him correctly.

I liked Gaffney in 2007, but he cost this team 1-2 games this past year with his drops. Nice player but replaceable. Hell I wouldn't be shocked if you see Sam Aiken (yes Aiken) take on a bigger role in the offense as you saw towards the end of the season.

Disagree on Paxton. Remember the year he was hurt? We had to switch snappers and holders multiple times and Vinatieri had a VERY off year. Continuity is key, I would never mess with that.
