Taylor still waiting - CBSSports.com

Running back Fred Taylor woke up Friday morning and saw a report he had signed with the New England Patriots.

That was news to him.

"That isn't true," Taylor said. "I don't know where some of that ----- comes from sometimes."

Has the TEAM actually confirmed this?

Re: Prisco: Taylor says he hasn't signed with the patriots yet. 1pm ET

the article is from 10 this morning not 1 pm but makes you wonder and no the Pats have not confirmed but that usually takes a little while with this team.....

Re: Prisco: Taylor says he hasn't signed with the patriots yet. 1pm ET

Prisco is a moron. That article says:

Taylor did say he is still in discussions with the Patriots, but no deal was done as of 9:30 a.m.

9:30AM. Long time ago.

Shefter reported it's a 2 year deal. Hard to manufacture a rumor like that.

 It's no harder to manufacture a rumor of a 2 year deal than any other kind of rumor. If they were negotiating for 2 years but the contract wasn't final, then that's what the rumor would be, no?

Re: Prisco: Taylor says he hasn't signed with the patriots yet. 1pm ET

Peter King on WEEI right now just said he spoke to Taylor, he hasn't signed but it is going to get done.

I thought Prisco was in the PST timezone so the timeframes of his note would be about 45 minutes ago.

I'm excited about this move but I don't want to find out Taylor actually went soemwher else.

Hadn't considered that. Shefter may have lost his first points with me ever if the deal isn't done.

I believe Shefter before Prisco.

Even with all this "he said, she said", this is pretty much a done deal it seems. I'm good with it.

Prisco's quotes are from Taylor himself though I am just hoping the timeing is off maybe when Prisco got his quotes it wasnt done and maybe when Schefter got word it was.

either way seems like it is still between us and the bills and would have to think we would win this one.

Re: Prisco: Taylor says he hasn't signed with the patriots yet. 1pm ET

It probably all started when bspn, in an effort to be first with 'breaking news', took a report that he would sign today, and then report that he 'has' signed.

Reiss hasn't reported the signing as officially done yet in the Globe, and there's nothing on the Pats' website yet either. Reiss' last comment was that "the sides are moving closer to finalizing a deal." Sounds like the contract has not physically been signed yet, but probably will be signed today.

I wonder if these signings becoming "official/confirmed has something to do with clearing some salary cap space first.

True, no doubt Shefter wouldn't have put it out unless it was a certainty. Sounds pretty much like it is. Just a matter of putting ink to paper hopefully.

I'd highly doubt we'd lose to the Bills on this one. WE NEVER LOSE TO THE BILLS. :singing:

Maybe Fred just can't find a pen. Happens to me all the time. Don't worry Fred, BB has a real nice one he'll let you borrow!

I read it on here this morning before anything popped up on te 4 letter network so lets not pin everything on them LOL

It's on PFT as well, done deal.

Although I would never miss an opportunity to bash Prisco, if Belichick listened to every report that a free agent contract is signed, the Pats may not have ever signed Colvin. Remember that it was reported everywhere that he signed with Detriot about a week before the Pats signed him in 2003.

LOL at this comment on the Fred Taylor signing.

"Annoyingly, Fred Taylor signs with the Patriots. This likely means Laurence Maroney will get kicked to the curb."

2009 Free Agency: Patriots sign Fred Taylor, ChrisBaker- OpenThread - Stampede Blue

Why would this mean Maroney is kicked to the curb? Maroney has a $2.11 million cap hit and cutting him would cost the Pats an additional $340k. What is the benefit of cutting him? Why would Belichick go into the season with a 33 year old RB as the lead back?

I do love it when Colts fans get annoyed with the Pats' moves though.
