Just heard it on WEEI. Now we wouldn't have to trade for him. Do you think he's a good option for the Pats?

Damn it, man! I was going to go with

Springs..... sprung.

Oh, well.

Here's some analysis

The Skins unsurprisingly found no takers in a trade for the 34-year-old. Springs can still play, but GM Vinny Cerrato tipped his hand by immediately putting him on the block after re-signing DeAngelo Hall. At that point Springs' release had become inevitable and nobody would have given up a pick for him. Hall and Carlos Rogers will be Washington's starting corners in 2009. The Saints and old DC Gregg Williams figure to show interest in Springs.

Getting Springs off the roster would save $6 million in cap space.

Not sure hes has some injury problems last couple seasons.

Only if the Bodden thing falls apart. But it won't.

Exactly. Nice backup option, maybe puts a little more pressure on Bodden to sign knowing that there's one more alternative available. I'll take Bodden any day - younger, good size, not as injury prone, and has played well in a similar D under Romeo.

I've seen my fair share of Skins games. Crap, I even went to one last season. IMO, Shawn Springs is injured a lot because of the physical scheme Washington runs. They jam a lot, blitz DBs often, play man coverage. Quite the opposite of Bill's scheme. He isn't a starter here. He has some skills, just not the right ones.

Free agent CB Shawn Springs "may well" be headed to the Patriots, according to the Washington Times.

Springs should find a new home quickly. He'd only be a stopgap solution in New England, but the Pats can use the help now. With Leigh Bodden also on the radar, Bill Belichick has made it obvious that cornerback is a priority.

As I predicted elsewhere, Springs would be cut as he is not a shiny toy anymore. Anyone still want to wager that Haynesworth will be cut in three years?

It's ironic; Springs is the kind of veteran with name value that Snyder would normally overpay for. So ..... I guess he re-signs with the Skins for 3-yr $20MM???

But someone will probably pay too much for Springs and put the Pats out of the running. I'd rather have Bodden anyway.

I wouldn't object to adding him.
