Re: One dayu before F/A and trades that are possible and why along Full seven round d

First of all, I have done a full 7 round mock once in my life, and have never done it again. I know it takes a ton of energy, and I appreciate that you took the time to do it.

If the Patriots somehow ended up with Julius Peppers, Sean Smith, Clay Mathews, and Jarron Gilbert, I would be an extremely happy fan.

I am not a big Rey Maualuga guy right now, and I'd take Maclin with that pick since he's available on your board. If he's not available, I'd look Beatty or Britton at OT.

I like the Sean Smith pick

I like the Mathews pick as well, but with Peppers already on board, I'd rather have Delmas, Butler or possibly Moore depending on if the Pats viewed Smith as a S or CB.

The James Casey pick is another one I like, but I don't know if I could pass up Hakeem Nicks there (assuming I didn't get Maclin in round one).

Eric Wood was another pick I like where you took him. My only question is can he play guard? Nobody can afford to carry 2 pure centers on their 53 man roster.

Nic Harris ran really slow at the combine and I don't see him as a fit in NE as he's pretty much considered a LB now and more of a fit for a team like Tampa or the Colts.

Boone the OT from Ohio State has some character issues and I don't see the Patriots being interested, though I think his skill represent him being a decent value where you take him.

Bernard Scott seems like the anti-Patriot. He's been to like 5 schools, he's been in trouble with the law and he's like 24 or 25.

That's a ton of work, and while I don't know about all those trades, it was certainly a blast to read. Thanks for the effort and good job. I think all Patriots fans would be very happy if that were the result.

Great points! Thanks. Jarron Gilbert was taken in the third by us in the compensatory picks for Samuel (I hope). Love Delmas as well but we need a SS and he is of the smaller size. Bob Sanders would be an example but BB likes his SS to play in the box as an extra LB. Although I have heard he is has gained five lbs.

I want Smith to play CB. He has the speed and he is smooth. He is the Cromartie of this draft.

Moore works for me at SS. His poor senior year pushes him down to us perhaps. He showed at the combine he is good and recovered from nagging injuries.

Boone was at one time a first rounder. He is in remorse mode. He had the same issues as Jared Allen. Would be a waste of talent. At round five he might be a steal.

I think Casey could play both TE and WR. He is the real deal and I have him rated higher on the boards than Nicks or Britt as far as all around value and versatility. Nicks would be great as would Britt but we really need a TE that stays healthy and can catch. We do not have that. He also plays QB, RB, DE and S plus he is more mature and a great citizen.

I'd be sick if that happened. #3 overall AND a 4th for Peppers? Terrible. Passing over Darius Butler, William Moore and Ron Brace for Clay Matthews. I really, really hope nothing like this comes to pass.

Re: One dayu before F/A and trades that are possible and why along Full seven round d

Your trades aren't well thought out. Larry Johnson isn't the runner he used to be because of the mismanagement by Herm Edwards.

Sorry, but nothing you did is realistic.. even for a mock.

Re: One dayu before F/A and trades that are possible and why along Full seven round d

Am I missing something, because I only see 3 rounds mocked. You promised 7 rounds in the thread title.

I'm also completely against going after Larry Johnson. Big salary, too much wear on the tires, over 30, and overrated. He's Eddie George II. People don't seem to learn from history. Look at his numbers the past 2 years. Those are the numbers of a RB in decline.

Larry Johnson his last 2 years:
8 games 559 yards 3.5 ypc
12 games 874 yards 4.5 ypc

I don't think Monroe will be as good as Jason Smith, so I think the wrong guy is going #1. I also don't think that Freeman will last to round 2 in a QB starved league. Someone will reach for him late in round 1. And that means that Detroit will still be screwed at QB. If they want Freeman, they'll have to spend their 20 on him. At which point they would have been better off by offering a package of #20 plus something for Cassel.

If Jason Smith lasts to #2, St Louis will take him for sure and Curry will go #3 to KC. They have serious offensive line issues. And that starts at the tackles. And Andre Smith to Oakland at 7? He's going to slide a lot more than that from the Combine fiasco. I don't see it, and Oakland prefers to draft SPEED anyways. 8 is also too early for Vontae Davis.

Basically I have a big problem with how your top 10 shakes out. So I don't see this as a realistic mock. It keeps coming across as your fantasy mock, rather than a mock draft that goes for realism, so it just doesn't have much reading value. Sorry.

I wanted to weigh my "Mock" heavily with trades so please take that into account. It is not a pure seven round draft because of that. It was for fun but I did try to keep it as real if they happened. I am pretty realistic with the trades but as you know they might never happen in the NFL. I had to go to three seperate threads to get all seven rounds but they are all there. Just scroll down the Draft forum site. Sorry.

Re: One dayu before F/A and trades that are possible and why along Full seven round d

They say that A. Smith has the most talent but he loses the ranking because of the combine fiasco. Oakland might take a shot because the other two top OTs are gone and that is their major need. The tackles behind them are good but not as talented. If anyone drafts him that high it is crazy Al.
