ELITE? So you can see the future and know how this kid is going to perform?? You'd better call Belichick and let him know....

Not only is he adept at running between the tackles, but in space he is very ellusive. If defense are going to use man over the top on Moss a player with his skill sets could exploit defenses and formations. The nature of our offense can create natural running lanes and he's a player who's good in space and also able to stick it up inside.

If we get a vet or two for the secondary than I would be OK with anything but there is much out there so I think I'ld perfer a DB

I've watched every game this kid has played for the last couple of years, and he is going to be a stud!! What Georgia didn't do effectively is throw him screens and hitches. He has the toughness and size to be an everydown NFL back. But he also has the Kevin Faulk like ability out of the backfield. If, and that is a big if, he is there at #23, he might be too good to pass up!

I like him a lot too, but he'd be icing on the cake for me. And my body is like that of the Pats D, it could use some injection of youth. :p

This guy is a Cadillac Williams/Marion Barber clone - runs very hard but is just not big/durable enough to be worth the big bucks. Plus, our running backs are solid and we have pressing needs elsewhere.

Personally I think SD takes him at #16 and grooms him to be LT2's replacement, hopefully without the attitude.

Do I like him better than Maroney? Absolutely. I think he's going to be a stud. But I thought Mendenhall was going to be a stud last year, and Pittsburgh didn't get much out of him. Maybe they're saying he's "made of glass" in the Steel City. I know you can't predict injuries, but RBs are more injury prone than any other position with the pounding they take, and given our current success with RB by committee I just can't see taking a back at 23, given our other needs.

We don't even know if Moreno is on top of the Patriots board.

But, regardless, no way I take him with our #1. We have needs.

we have maroney. i am not ready to give up on him yet. 1 more season. hes shown signs of excellence.

Same thought here. Although I think Moreno will be a stud at the next level, we have more pressing needs.

If we do have another pick in the first round and we pick a skill position player, I'd rather have us take a WR. Moss is getting up there in age, and we need to start grooming someone now so we don't get stuck like we did in 2006.

this yrs rb class looks like it will disappoint

I have news for you. Laurence Maroney was exactly the same in college.

Only way I take him is if we get an additional mid 1st round pick for Matt Cassel to play with.

I think if we sign Fred Taylor, the odds of us drafting a RB early become very slim.

Does anyone here think we actually NEED a RB?

At least one Day Two/UDFA kid for competition and depth, preferably one multi-tool RB like Ian Johnson and one people mover like B-Jeepers.

Let's see, Lamont Jordan is gone, and BJGE is out of options so he can't be sent to the practice squad anymore. Did I mention that our remaining RBs not named Kevin Faulk are injury prone? Yeah, by the numbers alone the Pats need another RB or two. Adding Fred Taylor to the mix would greatly reduce the need of drafting a RB early. But he hasn't been inked yet. So yeah the need is there right now.
