I definately could see the Pats surprising everyone of they select a Gator with thier first pick, but the Chad Jackson debacle has me shaking my head over making another big mistake - Mincey and Jackson did NOTHING

I do like the option of taking a big TE like Ingram in the later rounds of the draft who apparently has some good blocking skills, something that Watson and Thomas suck at.

I think Tim Tebow will be the best QB in the 2010 draft class and unless NE is picking in the top 5 next season,I see no way a QB with his talent will last late in the 1st round by that time.

I highly doubt Ingram is a better blocker than Watson, who is not a bad blocking TE anyways.

Ben makes some bad plays, but when you don't notice him, it is usually because he is doing the right things.

But Dave Thomas just flat sux....I wouldn't mind getting another TE and one who could block could free Watson up to the pass more. Not to mention I believe is he a FA soon.

Not only is Ingram a worse blocker than Watson, Ingram doesn't block....Period. He couldn't block an IHOP waitress from putting syrup on his pancakes. His hands are abysmal, and his receiving skills are as rudimentary as it gets, so he's not going to be a Dallas Clark-type in the NFL. Really, I don't know who would draft him, but it's going to be purely on size/speed.

I think the UF - Patriots connection is highly overstated.

I especially enjoy the part where the writer all but guarantees that Belichick takes Tebow in the first round next year.....while he has a Hall of Fame Quarterback in his prime starting for him.

Yeah, I'd agree with all that you said, but I didn't get to see all that much of Ingram in run blocking.

I primarily remember him as a pure athlete, who can succeed in the spread.

I would possibly take him late (5th, 6th, 7th) in the draft based on pure size/speed combo, as long as he truly loves football.

Harvin could be the suprise guy they get early, uber productive pocketknife.

A bit of an overstatement. Ingram's a willing blocker, but I agree that he's not very good at it.

Disagree. I watched just about every game CI played in college, and I don't remember him dropping many passes. Actually, I remember him making quite a few tough catches.

Agreed. I also think it's overstated. Can't see Belicheck taking a UF guy just because he's friends with Meyer. I think originally Belichick was intrigued by Meyer because he's innovative and a winner, but it seems clear that the two have developed a friendship at this point.

Gators are most well known for their offense over the last decade or two, but for the most part their quarterbacks and receivers tend to not live up to their expectations in the NFL. Ironically defensive players in the Spurrier - Meyer era tend to be more productive in the NFL than offensive players from the University of Florida.

Notice how the article failed to mention that the Patriots CUT both of those Florida players.....

I think that Reggie Bush is going to really hurt Percy Harvin's draft status.

The year after Urban became coach we drafted Chad Jackson and Jeremy Mincey. Since then neither left a good impression on the Pats, and are both off the team. On top of that we have not drafted a player from FL since. The pipeline is closing up, but the friendship remains as BB needs a warm place to go during the offseason :)

I'm sure that getting scouting information about other SEC players (like Mayo) is high on BB's priority list when he meets with Urban.

Exactly. As someone else noted, while the Pats don't always draft players from coaches BB knows, he definitely pumps them for info (see Mayo, Jerod).

Don't forget that BB has another source in the SEC Saban at Bama.

I don't think that Tebow translates to the pros. If he were playing in a pro style offense instead of a gimmicky offense, I'd have more confidence in his ability to make it in the NFL. Right now, I just don't see it. He looks more like a great college QB and only a mediocre NFL QB with the athleticism to scramble.

Maybe the next genrations slash type player, take the Kordell Stewart gene out and splice in the Chris Cooley gene. He lines up at QB motions to H back and becomes the post dive belly option on the reverse, heck he might even throw.

Not necessarily Harvin is much more position versatile than Bush was coming out of college. It gives teams a chance to evaluate him a little differently.

Gator plays don't exactly tear it up in the NFL.
