Here are mine:

Realistic:
Fred Taylor, Yeremiah Bell, Michael Boley

Fantasy:
TJ Houshmanzadeh, Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard

Fred Taylor, Sean Jones, Dre Bly (I don't want him but we always take a JAG CB) and Andra Davis

Bart Scott
Jerry Porter

To predict, we have to first decide if the FA acquisitions are without Cassel's TAG number of $14.65 mill. or with it. Will make somewhat of a difference. I am going to say that the TAG will still be on the books come this Friday and therefore we will not be 'big spenders' per se. I hope that I am wrong though.

I tend to get one or two right a year (I correctly picked Adalius Thomas and Victor Hobson in subsequent years), but I get most wrong. So here I go.

Potential Patriots FA targets

Ray Lewis - 3-4 experience, great leader, probably too expensive with the Jets and Cowboys chasing after him.
Bart Scott - 3-4 experience, solid starter
Leigh Bodden - Experience in Belichick's defense, rising star prior to last year, still young
Channing Crowder - 3-4 experience. Rumored that the Pats are really high on him. Taking away from Dolphins helps the Pats and hurts the Dolphins.
Bryant McFadden - Young corner, starting to break out as a player, Pats love Steeler defenders.
Yerimiah Bell - Hard hitting safety, upgrade from Sanders and a potential replacement for Harrison, again helps the Pats by improving the position and hurting the Dolphins.
LJ Smith - Belichick loves his TEs
Darren Sharper - Belichick also loves older veterans who are smart football players with great instincts and reaction abilities.
Fred Taylor - Just because Belichick is all about RB by committee these days and they have already shown interest.

I think Lewis and Scott will be long shots because both will draw a lot of interest elsewhere especially with the Jets. Bell and Sharper may be resigned by their own teams even before free agency starts on Saturday.

Well, the Pats can be "big spenders" if they get Cassel off the books in the first few weeks of free agency. The first wave of free agency usually lasts about 3 weeks to a month. In 2003, the Pats acquired both Colvin and Harrison about 3 weeks into free agency. Several of the bigger names will be snatched up immediately, but most of those are because the team acquiring them overpaid for their services. There will still be impact free agents available in mid-March.

Not a lot of cap dollars - Fred Taylor and Dre Bly are my possibilities

No one here thinks Marvin Harrison has a shot for spot play at WR here..I do

Ok i need to ask this cus it is absolutely driving me crazy

What in gods name does JAG stand for!!!!!!

Adding Marvin Harrison would be so incredibly amazing and such a kick to pats fans would be a nice compliment to Randy o man i say DO IT.. If not im guessing for a reciever possibly Jerry Porter as previously mentioned or even Ronald Curry.. rough year last but who doesnt suck in oakland.

Would Love bryant Mcfadden! could be a fantastic signing

Fred Taylor i think hes here for sure.. cant see him choosing buffalo playing behind lynch

Finally I agree with the Dre Bly pickups i think he can still be affective would love Darren Sharper tho

Haha Thanks you!! that was driving me insane

I wouldn't put Jim Leonhard in the fantasy camp. He's probably the one guy I feel strongly that they'll sign.

I expect us to look hard at Angelo Crowell &/or Channing Crowder for our LB position. both are young and have the size to play inside in the 3-4.

Earlier I was high on Sean Jones but I think I'm still waiting for M Huff to get cut by the Raiders. Either way, an upgrade needs to be made over Sanders

I'd be shocked if we don't bring in a veteran CB. But with the contracts being thrown around, forget about Hall and think more of a Leigh Bodden. He played in a similar defense and before going to the Lions, he was getting better..

in Free Agency I'm really thinking we do what we did in '01 and bring in players with value.. Not high tkt players..

With Wrecks Ryan chasing him for the Jests and Leonhard's comfort in Ryan's system? That just seems like too much of a good match for both parties unless we out-bid them.

I predict 75% former Pats, and 25% vet minimums

If we dont trade Cassel we aint doing nowt .. and the options seems to be getting smaller

Depends on where their priority is in FA. I don't think they'll have a ton of room to play with (though somehow Peter King tells me otherwise) and if they spend any money on ex-Ravens my hunch is it will be one of Scott or Lewis.

Jets Are Gay ;)

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Man, I TOTALLY forgot about Leigh Bodden. Good call there.

We may not even draft a CB this year... Safeties and LB's though... bring 'em on!
