CBS has had NFLDS stuff for a while, it looks like this might be the final frontier of the change now.

CBS has had NFLDS stuff for a while, it looks like this might be the final frontier of the change now.

But in this case "merged" = "all their content is gone"!! Content many of us paid money for, I should mention.

You can still reach those inside pages but the links from there to the home go to CBS - the inside pages won't do any good if they're not being updated. I guess we'll just have to wait and see but it doesn't look good.

That would REALLY stink....A pay site I actually paid for....I THOUGHT one of the better....not sure what is happening BUT??? It would stink if it was not updated and gone...

I just emailed Cooney for a refund, fat chance of getting it. I could care less if he offers a lot of the same stuff free like he did last year. I could still get more info at his site but now I'm getting redirected to CBS. RIP-OFF.

Wrote the above before checking out the above links, it works so far. Hopefully they'll email subscribers next time before cutting us out???

Here is the letter that I wrote to Frank Cooney

Mr. Cooney -
My name is DaBruinz. I have been a subscriber NFLDraftscout.com for the past 4 years and have enjoyed the content that you, Rob Rang and Chad Reuter (to name a few) have presented. When I went attempted to go to the website today, I was very disturbed when I was re-directed to CBSSports.com. The new site is horrible. The first page only has about 1/3 the info regarding the draft. The rest is worthless ads and content that I don't want or need. I have to say that this is a very disappointing development. Especially considering that the future draft information is no longer there.

I hope that you take this as constructive criticism and work with CBS to bring NFLDraftscout.com back to his former prestige.

The unique thing about NFLDraftScout was the depth and sortability of information, including the ability to look back at past draft classes (and ahead to future) for reference. If Cooney reaps rich rewards for reproducing all of that at CBS, great, he deserves it. If instead he's just dumbing his approach down for a less hardcore audience, I'm bereft.

Rang, in particular, never served as a scout.

He went from being a draftnik with a site to this.

Sure, he claims to have been offered a scout job. So?!

Never worked as one yet is, strangely, viewed as one.

Frankly, though his analysis is usually very in-depth,

it is often unoriginal (aka: borrowed) or just a tad off.

He's had MANY memorable misses in talent evaluation.

Don't know enough about Cooney to speak about him.

But it seems they are cashing in.

The player analysis is their own and usually up before anyone else. SportsXchange has over 40 reporters working for them. So, your comments on them having "borrowed" information is actually backwards. SportsXchange produces USA TODAY Sports Weekly, Lindy's Annuals, Joe Montana's "Red Zone," Terry Bradshaw's Fantasy Football Preview, John Benson's Fantasy Baseball and Football Previews, Bill Walsh's Online Draft Analysis, and more.

Joel Buschbaum had NO experience as a scout and he is acknowledged as the best draft nik not affiliated with a team. Many GMs, including our own Bill Belichick, relied on Buschbaum's analysis.

Every single scout has had MANY memorable misses in talent evaluation. Not just Rang.

Cooney has been doing scouting stuff since 1966 and he pioneered the in-depth pre-draft analysis that has shown up in many Hearst newspapers for 30 years. Cooney worked with Bill Walsh on Bill's Draft Website and that website morphed into NFLDraftScout.com

Precisely. He [Buschbaum] was undeniably better at scouting than the actual scouts.

Now if the legendary Buschbaum didn't appoint himself and promote himself as a "Scout," but rather as a professional draftnik and analyst, than isn't it rather odd that these should stake claim to the title? For me, it is. If you disagree, fine.

The usefulness and value of professional draftniks is not in question, however.
Scouting is what they do. But is "Scout" who they really are? Because if it is,
what is to stop any draftnik out there from calling himself a professional Scout?

That's my point.

And as far as the gigantic size of their operation and all those who depend upon
their services, that's great. But that is also what I'm saying is "unoriginal [aka: borrowed]."

To clarify, I wasn't implying plagarism. What I am saying is that
with all these sources becoming more and more interconnected,
something is somehow lost in the independant evaluation. Every
source you turn to is suddenly saying the same thing.

Forgive my love for the small guy. But varying opinions is where the
value of professional draftniks lies. Case in point, Joel Buschbaum.
