Brady has begun working out and watching film with Cassel and new quarterbacks coach Bill O’Brien. He said Cassel’s phenomenal success hasn’t hurt their relationship in the least.

“Matt and I, we are great friends,” said Brady. “I worked out with him on Sunday and he’s doing great. He’s a great person and a great player and I’m lucky to have him as a teammate. I wish we could play together for our entire careers. We are great friends and he did an incredible job.”

But what else would he be doing? So I don't think this actually is evidence of much of anything.

Agreed. I think he's just hangin, and working out with a friend. Meanwhile, his agent is working the phones, and giving BB a list of teams to talk to at the combine this weekend.

What's up with the thread title?

Is there any reason why he wouldn't be watching film or working out with Brady? Not sure how this implies anything, one way or the other.

Hmm. If a young QB in the NFL who knew he was going to be on another team had a chance to train with Tom Brady, would he take it?

I see your point.

Its all part of the plan.He has to act like he wants to stay, that way the price might go up a little........Actually I don't know what it means except hes staying in shape. That way he'll be ready for any scenario.

Or... and I know this is a reach, but... it's because he's currently under contract with the Patriots for 14+ million bucks. If I was his boss I'd be pi$$ed if he wasn't working.

If you watch the video of the interview, it's pretty clear Tom thinks Cassel is gone when he says "I wish we could play our entire careers together".

There is a lot lost in translation here.

TFB knows the business side, as much as he probably dosen't like it.

Well, it's not so much business here as numbers--if he's healthy, there just isn't room for Cassel.

And we can't kid ourselves, either. If TFB is full-on-Kevin's-mom back in action, Cassel won't be starting. And he's had a taste of it, and is a good quarterback, so it's ridiculous to think of him riding the pine.

I think some of us have actually convinced ourselves these guys don't like playing, they just like money. And aside of Ty Law, that's nonsense.
