McGinest on Tom Brady

Why dont we just have a series of posts debating the meaning of each word Willie said. Clearly this was months in the making, and Willie has a team of advisors going over what to say if asked "have you talked to Brady" on a daily basis.
I guess it depends on what the definition of is is.

Come on guys. Whether you want to be optimisitic or pessimistic, there is nothing hidden here.
Someone was talking to Willie, and OFF THE CUFF brought up Brady, and Willie said he talks to him all the time, and he is ahead of schedule, working out, doing drills.
There is no conspiracy theory at work here its a guy being asked a SIMPLE AND BENIGN QUESTION.

I would consider this proof positive that Brady is doing drills and Brady feels he is ahead of schedule.
THERE IS SIMPLY NO REASON WHATSOEVER FOR ANYONE TO MANIPULATE THE TRUTH OR FLOAT FALSE RUMORS.
After reading everything here, I was about to post a response which would have mirrored yours exactly. This Brady stuff has led some people to some outrageous responses. What does this verb mean? Is the use of that noun semantical? Is there secret code language being used by those "in the know?" Could this statement really mean something different? What do you suppose s/he really meant by that phrase? What's in it for him/her to tell the truth? That's it for me with these threads...

Re: willie mcginest on Tom Brady

wuhooo fate shall lead us there and brady shall lead us to that 4th SB victory!!

Good point -- what exactly are the shadowy Patriots forces supposed to be conspiring for? What possible benefit could be gained by spreading conflicting information about an offseason rehab program? (No, there's no need to lay some elaborate foundation of misinformation just to franchise & trade Cassel.)

So the only reasonable explanation for the conflicting reports is that Pioli planted the rumor with Curran about Brady's terrible setback in order to drive down the market for Tom's inevitable trade, then BB counter-leaked rumors of Brady running marathons in order to force Scott's hand and make him give up both Tony Gonzalez and Larry Johnson to get Brady.

Right? ;)

Didnt see a thread, merge or delete if needed. Anyone else see Willie on NFL total access last night? Says he talks to Brady all the time and that he is well ahead of schedule, running around, doing qb drills and will be ready for the start of the season. he does note however, that he is not a doctor.

This is total BS. I'm sure I've heard that Willie is indeed a practicing doctor. Why he would deny this is beyond me.

I believe his degree from USC is a degree in dentistry, making him a doctor indeed, but not an MD.

Dr. Dre is still a doctor.
Dr. Detroit is still a doctor.
Dr. Huxtable is a doctor.
Willie McG is a dentist.....but also a doctor.

Thanks, that clears it up. Though I'm still confused about Dr. J, who claims to be an attorney.

This has been one LONGASS offseason:eat1:

Let 'em all in, I say -- except that so-called "Dr." Z.

Maybe we could hire Coach Z... 1-2, 1-2...

The only logical post here.

I have only one opinion on these matters: most of what we hear about Brady's recovery is deliberate contradictory information.

People are talking because they are asked to talk about it.

I saw the movie W. this weekend, and in it, President Bush the 1st doesn't want to give advice on Iraq directly to his son because he knows they feel differently about it. The scene cuts to GWB discussing something Bush I's national security chief, Brent Scowcroft, says about the plans to invade Iraq. GWB clearly interprets this as a message from his father.

This seems like what is going on here. People are just deliberately leaking things, and it explains why Curran is all over the place on this.

Maybe....but I would believe something out of Tomasses butthole quicker than I believe anything from that movie. Just my 2c

Glad to hear that Tom is looking good for 2009 though....I want some vengence on the NFL!

Wha?

This is OT, but Scowcroft and Bush I's guys did say those things. It's on the record. Regardless, the movie is a fiction, obviously. Based on research, but that's off topic.

I'll say this again: no one said there's a conspiracy. I never said the Patriots have everyone going, from the front office on down. I just believe that Willie wouldn't have said anything unless he had to go ahead from Brady.

There are clear interests in putting out contradictory information. On the Patriots' side, they don't want teams thinking they will DEFINITELY be keeping Cassel because of Brady's injury, and they don't want teams thinking they have no NEED of Cassel. On Brady's side, it's better for him not to have people thinking there's an issue with his knee. I'm not saying there's a conspiracy. I'm saying a lot of what we here is deliberate and contradictory information (as I said in my first post) that's being leaked with the blessing of either Brady or the Patriots. This doesn't even put Brady and the Patriots at odds since Brady's friend's statements reinforce the message the Patriots probably want out there. The message is: you don't know what the f*** is going on, so send your draft picks to us pronto, or you'll be sorry.

If you're referring to the Dr. Z from Sports Illustrated, I believe he's very slowly recovering from a significant stroke.

Well that's not very funny.

Peter King updates him every so often, this is the news from two days ago :

"c. For all you Zim-ophiles: Paul Zimmerman is improving, slowly but surely. He is still not speaking or reading, but he is beginning to walk fairly well, with help, and his right side is showing progress after his three strokes of nearly three months ago. "He played Monopoly!'' wife Linda enthused Saturday. He got a big boost from daughter Sarah and son Michael, visiting from out West over the weekend. I visited Zim at his rehab facility Sunday, and he took great delight in my Hall of Fame tales; he missed the selection meeting for the first time in decades this year. The one thing I'll say about him is that, far from giving up, he's attacking his rehab with fervor and optimism. And the dude looks good. I must say he loves all of your letters and cards. Thank you so much for not forgetting him."

I get the sense from past comments by some local media, that Zimmerman is not a very pleasant person and I have not cared for much of his writing. With that said, I wouldn't wish his condition on anyone and hope he fully recovers.
