We did real well with the last ex-Ravens CB we tried out, Duane Starks.

McCallister was great in his time, but he's a man CB, his knees are shot and he can't stay healthy, and he's a me-first guy. No thanks.

I see your point but how does a draft choice help us next year the way BB plays it? Wilhite and Wheatley had to play when we picked up some JAGs on the cheap. How did that work out? We need to get higher end FAs (cheap is good but doesn't work every time) or trades or draft picks that can start right now unlike the CBs we drafted last year.
Wheatley proved that he knows how to get hurt just like in college and Wilhite was.....just o.k.
Unless we draft a CB in the first round, he will sit and the JAGs will start. I agree it helps down the road but don't you want a Championship in 2009 all of you here?
I am not a McAllister fan but he was an All-Pro. Why is it when Law takes his league tour for the highest bidder we are always saying "sign him up" on this forum?
Here is something that might work and I would enjoy all input. McCallister has always been a ball hawk and is a very sure superb tackler. He goes 6'1" and about 210 lbs. I could see him as solving our Safety problem for a few years if we draft a S this year. He is much faster than James Sanders, Rodney or Tank. He would be an upgrade to Sanders. If Rodney or Tank don't make it back, he could play back there. He is bigger than Merriweather but I could see them as a great tandem. He would also be versatile enough to put him at CB in a pinch. He started only 5 games this last year, had 7 Pdef and had 3 INT's. Two years ago he had almost 50 tackles, 6 INTs and 16 Pdef.
It has always been discussed to have the 34 year old Law come in here and play some Safety. I admit that that intrigued me as well. How about McAllister as a Safety? He is bigger than Law and has the same credentials. We need at least two Safeties for this year. Couldn't he also help the kids out in some solid teaching of CB play from an All-Pro? Couldn't he help Merriweather?
I think Chris would consider giving us a shot as a top tier team. He has to be realistic in salary, I agree, but there is an upside to him. Champ Bailey is the same age and there would not be a discussion about him joining the Pats even though he was hurt in 2008.

Because I tend to think that the issue with the secondary was more or less the sputtering pass rush. Look at the Steelers. They, by all means, do not have a great secondary outside of Polamalu (and even he is out of position quite a bit as well). However, their defense was stout due to a great pass rush. Look at our defense this past year. When the pass rush was on, the defense was great. When the pass rush was off, we yielded 24-30 points. In this Patriots dynasty, there has only been one TRUE shutdown cornerback: Ty Law. We can probably live without another one.

This is true. It is much easier for our little tiny guys to try to dive at the ankles of Colson, Fitzgerald, Plexico. Jackson, and others after they have caught the ball.

LOL,the Ravens are about $27 million under the cap.

Cmac wont command a premium price these days,he hasnt been able to stay healthy the last 2 years and he will be 32 years old in June.

That said,he could be a decent low risk high reward type of guy...might be able to squeeze a year or 2 out of him still at CB.He has also said he wants to move to safety when he cant play corner anymore,that might be happening sooner than later for him though if he cant get that knee healthy.
