Pretty cool site. I see they have us taking Alphonso Smith at #23. Is that starting to become a common prognostication?

I actually don't mind the picks they have us set up with. Be nice to include the comp. picks and any trade picks when those come along in these "professional" mocks. I was surprised to see WR and FB on the list.

I would be very happy with those first four picks (Alphonso Smith, Tyrone McKenzie, Clint Sintim, Rashad Johnson). Verrrrry happy.

As mocks go it wasn't bad at all. I saw nothing there worth spare change, but it was nice to let people see what they do.

I have a feeling the draft order, at least as far as web-scouts go, will change a lot with the combine. But right now, those are four nice picks. FA may change those areas of need, though (pending a Cassel trade/restructure).

As mocks go it wasn't bad at all. I saw nothing there worth spare change, but it was nice to let people see what they do.

The scouting reports are nice, albeit from months ago. The projections come from before the season, I think, but those aside, there seems to be an intelligent scouting report of many players.

This is the first serious mock draft that I have seen. they have the corerct players going at the point in the round where they would be expected to go. Big men go in theh top ten. The only question is Peria Jerry that late. I would think he goes sooner, and ditto for Ebrin.

It is a quality job but, I still wouldn't pay cash money...
I would be awfully tempted with Laurinaitis. Finding Big, Fast, ILBs is tough to do outside the single one in the top dozen picks each season. CBs are everywhere, and although Alphonso is a good CB, he lacks some triangle for the first round. Round 2? In an instant...

My problem with Laurinaitis is that I don't think he's a first round value for the Patriots. I think he's got more or less the same game as Mayo. He's not at all the Ted Johnson-esque snot-knocker some seem to think he is. I'm diametrically opposed to you on these two players...I think Smith is going to light up the triangles like the Fourth of July and may go in the Top 15 picks....and I'd gladly take Little Animal in Round two were he still available.

That would be an interesting dilemma; if Alphonso Smith and James Laurinaitis were both available I'd be very curious to see what the Pats would do.

Maybe it's because we're still so far from the draft, but I'm a bit surprised that I have not see one single mock draft that involved any trades - specifically, another team trading for Matt Cassel, of course.

On the subject of pay sites...does anybody subscribe to Blue Chip Scouting ? It's pretty pricy and they give you no hint of how many players they profile, etc.

I usually pony up for NFLDraftScout and one other site. The Huddle Report was that site the last couple years for entertainment's sake, but it's just too useless so I'm looking for a replacement. Draft Blitz seems pretty average. Other recommendations?

2010 (Broncos drafting #32....determined by Madden '09 simulation -- weird)
#28 Patriots Eric Norwood OLB South Carolina

2011 (Saints apparently beat NE in Super Bowl)
#31 Patriots Dezmon Briscoe WR Kansas

The scouting reports were interesting to read and better thanmany I've read, but they weren't enough to justify my cash. I did find it interesting to note that they have 6-8 Safeties going in the 2nd round in those reports.

There doesn't seem to be a sure first round saftey in this class. As for James Laurinaitis, I don't believe he's physical or fast enough for the Patriots. Brian Cushing is probably a better player than Laurinaitis or Maualuga and it would be good if the Patriots decide to take him. The only issues with Cushing is that he is injury prone and might be taking "too many nutrients".

I do not doubt Smith's ability to tackle. I have watched him stick his head in there on running plays enough to know that he is not afraid to do it.

I'd take Alphonso Smith over Laurinitis and take McKillop in round 3. I'm pretty sure about my position on that. Laurinitis would have to wow me in the combine and Smith lay down a stinker for me to change my mind. Now if Laurinitis lasts till round 2, then I'm considering him for the Pats.
